Zero response to a serios question? Impossible!

Until now there are no news about the Audi Tradition Agenda for 2004 available. I will post the text of the press release here, if it will be online on the Audi press database.

I briefly visited Audi Tradition on Friday and picked up a wall planner calendar there that includes the following dates/events where Audi Tradition will be present:

April 1-4 Techno Classica, Essen (D)
April 23-25 Langenburg Classic, Langenburg (D)
May 1-2 Donauring 2004, Ingolstadt (D)
May 13-16 Horch Club Treffen, Zwickau (D)
May 16 Oldtimertreff and rally, Zwickau (D)
May 29-June 1 49th Schauferl-Rally, Bad Aibling (D)
June 19-23 Liege-Rome-Liege (B/I)
June 25-27 Festival of Speed, Goodwood (GB)
July 8-11 24th int. NSU Treffen, Korbach (D)
July 8-11 Silvretta Classic (A)
July 16-17 Heidelberg Historic, Sinsheim (D)
July 28-31 Ennstal Classic, Gröbming (A)
August 13-15 Pebble Beach (USA)
September 10-12 100 years of automotive industry, opening August Horch Museum, Zwickau (D)
september 18-19 Gran Premio Nuvolari, Mantova (I)
September 16-18 Sachsen Classic, Zwickau-Dresden (D)
September 25-26 Riedenburg Classic, Riedenburg (D)

Don't know where the Silver Arrows can be seen in action, can imagine Goodwood, Pebble Beach and Donauring, and maybe the Wanderer Streamliners at Liege-Rome-Liege !

This Auto Union Veteranen Club meeting is at a different place every year, so it won't be in Ingolstadt. Don't know where it will be held this year, though.

Almost wildly off-topic, but I liked the article on your historic "Auto Union" quattro in a recent Dutch AutoWeek magazine, René...

Just thought I'd mention that.

Thank you! For a journalist like myself, it is quite strange having an article written about you and your car, rather than writing about somebody else... But the track day at Assen with the Audi quattro was much fun ! I never get to drive my quattro often enough, always this lack of time and too many other cars waiting to be driven and tested !

What a pitty.

BTW: René and we are once again OT, but I think you said everything. After Christmas i spend some days in Tessin (the italian speaking part of switzerland). And found an 1982 Ur-quattro with Fuchs Tyres in mother of pearl colour in a really very good condition on a parking deck in a garage. As you know, it's not easy to find some of the early cars with with the special US-top lights (the same than the Audi 200 (Typ 43)).

Unfortunetly I made no picture.

For those in Belgium or not too far away: the Wanderer Stromlinie owned by Belgian VW/Audi-importer, D'Ieteren Frères, is currently on display on the Audi stand at the Brussels Motorshow. I saw it today, it is shown together with the Spa-1000 km-winning Audi R8 plus the Le Mans quattro prototype.

And the February issue of British magazine "Octane" includes a 7-page feature with track test of the Wanderer Stromlinie.

To go even more OT: do try and keep a good eye on your urq, René. They're becoming very popular amongst criminals these days. In the last 6 months, two immaculate quattros got stolen, which is a very high statistic if you think about the fact that only a few hundred are actually on the streets of continental Europe on a normal day.

The first one disappeared from a guarded (!) parking lot at Düsseldorf Airport. Never seen again. The second belonged to friend of mine, a beautiful dark blue 1983/4 model that was recently restored. It had an alarm with immobilizer, so they must have used a transporter. I'm particularly sad of that one, because two years ago, I personally helped deliver its new engine from Dresden to the Netherlands

So if you spot a sudden flood of dark-blue urq parts on, for example, eBay: please inform me.

Interesting! Audi wasn't at the FoS last year, so I'm hoping to see some serious AU action this time. Especially since we're going to the FoS this year Posted Image

As for the Museum in Zwickau: I've heard that they're going to present several of the Auto Unions there, to suit the historical surroundings. Will make some nice pictures, so I guess I'll be attending that one too.

I'll think the opening of the Audi Museum in Zwickau will be the highlight of the Audi Tradition Agenda this year. Perhaps also the AUVC meeting will be held there.

The opening in September would be also a nice event to meet once again Brun? And spend some days in the AU archive in Chemnitz before. Than you can introduce and teach me in discovering the mysterios documents about the Typ E.

Excellent idea Holger! Hope I remember the way to the mine where I stashed away the E that I bought for 100 euros at the scrap yard :rotfl:

Of course, we'll also visit you and the family somewhere in the spring. No jokes here

Do you know, how to start the engine of the Typ E? Excellent. I will wear my race overall. Please close the Autobahn between Zwickau and Chemnitz for some testdrives. :smoking:

As this is the weekend after the Zandvoort DTM-round (which will probably be my busiest weekend of the year), I hope that I can attend the musem opening in Zwickau as well. Maybe we can organise some TNF-activity there !

Wonderful idea René. Please remember me, to take my quattro documents with me, so you can have a look in my collection. ;)

I have booked a room at the Holiday Inn in Zwickau for Friday and Saturday night. I know a couple of good restaurants and bars there, so the more people there, the better! (Rooms still available, but going quickly!)

So, I better not take my urq., then. As I have been appointed as Opel's international motorsport press officer as of January 1, I am probably supposed to be driving my new company-Vectra or Signum anyway (don't have it yet).

So you're not supposed to write any Joest or Abt-biased reports then? :p ;)

Reports are never biased (at least I hope mine aren't) - otherwise they are press releases !

So will you continue doing DTM reports for Autosport then, or will there only be OPC press releases for you to write?

BTW, congratulations on your appointment. Nice one...

So far, DTM-reports were done by staff members (Charles Bradley or Laurence Foster). My involvement was mainly with news and support race stuff, and will probably remain so for the time being. During the DTM-weekends, my main activity will be writing press releases and looking after Opel's motorsport press contacts.

Is anyone going to be at the Donauring event the 1st-2nd of May? I know I am. I'll take part with an old Gilera in one of the heats for historic motorcycles. I really hope there will be a nice show of the Auto-Unions as well as Mercedes. Last year there was a C-type that ran along with the 1955 Mille Miglia M-B 300 SLR.
This year there will be a 50 year celebration of NSU racing motorcycles. 1954 was the last year the factory took part in motorcycle racing.

So, I hope I'll see you there!

Well, I'd like to, but time and money are limited... :
