TNF Members and their "Projects"

I have the usual gazillion, but the focus is currently on the 1964 GP Narrative, the 2004 Nextel Cup project in contemporary history, and finally finishing the 1916 AAA project now that the missing folder with my notes has been found.
I have also been mulling over rewriting the articles on the 1959, 1961, and 1982 seasons into a something similar to what I am doing with 1964. In addition, doing a thorough re-think and will perhaps finally complete the 1966-1967-1968 project as intended or revise it into something a bit more manageable. Plus, the USAC RRC & the SCCA USRRC and the US Formula A/5000 series still beckon and wish to be completed..... which links into the SCCA Nationals & major events from 1948 (the Nationals since 1951) to 1964. Not to mention the AAA/USAC/CART/IRL odyssey.....

1) Compile the usual results for the year.
2) Complete updating my Grand Prix results. Still too many non-championship results only have top six results.
3) Flesh out the new car section.
4) Continue writing articles for another website, trying to get history and new information in where possible.
5) Flesh out the new LSR section.
6) Maintain the rest of my website.
Is that it? Oh, almost forgot - have a life with my new wife!

A book about cars with V-12 engines. I'm especially concerned with finding any and all obscure cars or those that were planned but not built. I'm also trying to understand why and how they were built.
A biography of 1930s-1940s German engineer and developer Hellmuth Walter.
Updating my history of the Chevrolet Corvette.
A book of the photos of Rodolfo Mailander of Ferrari cars and people from 1950 to 1955.
Photo book of Can-Am machinery -- engines, chassis etc.
An article about the run-up to the return to racing of Mercedes-Benz at Reims in 1954.
An article about the cars that were the precursors to the VW Beetle -- NSU and Zundapp prototypes and others.
A book about the two races in February 1951 in Argentina in which the pre-war Mercedes competed.
And I still hope to write something definitive about the Auto Unions!

If anyone has any photos of the cockpits/dashes of the 1965 Ferrari 512, Brabham BT11 & BT7, and Cooper T77 I would be very interested!

- publishing more of the results (UK 1975, Australian Gold Star, South African F1/F5000, SCCA Nationals ...)
- publishing pages on more cars (Lola T140, Lola T400, McKee Mk8, LeGrand Mk7, etc, etc)
- getting more photos on the site.
2. Refreshing all the Can-Am results and getting it up to the same standard as the F5000 section.
3. Helping Chris Townsend and others with the Formula Atlantic project
4. Starting to publish bits and pieces of USAC data - maybe the 1961-1985 results will start soon.
That will do for 2004.

My next project has nothing to do with motorsports, but I am doing some research on Steve McQueen's childhood growing up in Slater, Missouri (which is about 100 miles from my home). If I find anything interesting, it may spawn into an article of some sort but the prospects look dim so far.

I will write checks for the following:
1 Assembling the engine to my MGA Deluxe. HRG Head, Roller Rockers, Kent Cam, Carrillo rods, etc.... while Fred the Painter does what he does best.
2 Restoring the XK 120 ots (silver/duo blue) I have owned since about 1987.
3 Supporting motorsport authors by buying just about everything available.
After that, NO MORE project cars, I am done ! (unless that Lotus IX I have known about for 30 years is available of course, or a BN2 Healey in Florida Green which I would just have to...)
I have a few thousand white metal and resin kits that need to be built along with a couple hundred posters that need framing and then there's all that NOS slot car stuff from the 60s that I never got around to setting up, the LGB trains.... the list is endless.
Is there any wonder why I am not married.
Cheers,
Ron, King of Unfinished Projects

build some slot race Emerysons and the BT.3 Brabham Climax;
continue racing the mid 1950's slot race series;
get stuck into the Halfton slot race series;
get around to building the 43rd scale diecast racing car kits I got for Christmas;
oh yes, and go out and earn a living somewhere along the way.

1.) Remove, rebuild, refit, and retune the carbs on an MGB
2.) Finish fitting the exhaust system on said MGB that we didn't finish in the fall
3.) Get it started to drive to the British Car Wizards who will retune it correctly and most likely find a dozen other things that need fixing
When the weather around here warms up enough not to flash freeze my nose I'll get right on it. I have quite a few non-car related things to try and catch up on as well (okay, trying to finish reading Michael Oliver's book on the Lotus 72 is sorta car related...)

I'm embarrassed to admit I don't have nearly so much on my plate this season. But at 65 I can sense the Checkered Flag of Life getting closer and still have lots of race-related places to go: Spa is #1 on the list (Aug 04), Isle of Man TT not far behind, and at least a dozen North American venues (the Glen tops among them) yet to be visited.
And still working 45-50 hrs/week at the hospital.
I figure I can squeeze it all in if I live another 50 years!

Oh crap, that reminds me I've still got to find out where they're holding the 1992 meeting.
On a more serious note, although in exactly the same vein, I have to convert some results to text format for Darren Galpin. Yes Darren, I'm still promising to do them. The guilt at having been promising to do so since middle/early last year is now horrendous.

On the subject of Voiturette results, could anyone who has the recent Brooklands Society book on handicaps please contact me .....
I'd also be interested in any details of handicaps run at Crystal Palace and Donington which featured 1500cc classes.

I don't know which info you are searching but maybe you should try to get Paul Sheldon's Formula 1 Register Fact Books on Formula 5000 Races. To my knowledge there are 2 volumes.

As the word gets out this should turn into a pretty exciting event with government officials, former drivers and fans coming for the dedication.
Another TNF member has suggested we try to schedule the dedication with the Petite LeMans in mind as Road Atlanta is a short two hour drive from the former circuit here in Augusta. I think this is a wonderful idea.

I am working in the Motorsport Memorial, plus doing some basic research on helmet liveries - another subject that I hope to bring to light in the web one day.
These two ventures are taking all my free time - Motorsport Memorial actually could occupy a group of professional researchers full-time busy for a long while -, so my original line of work, the history of motorsports in Brazil, has been postponed sine die.
And I risk being involved in a... De Lorean restoration project. A De Lorean, of all cars! Madonn'!
Cheers, good luck to all,
Muzza
P.S.: Don, are there any mid-term evaluations? As a new student, I would like to know the rules upfront...

Continuing to contribute to my own motor racing forum: http://www.crasherama.dk/. Continuing to promote my motor racing forum, http://www.crasherama.dk/, which is a site full of short videos of racing of ALL eras (1906 being the earliest, 2004 (eventually!) being most recent), and contains many pictures both scanned and photos taken by myself (It needs more Atlas members to give some good discussions )
Try and buy some racing videos to interest me while I'm bored.
And that's about it...! Exciting, eh?

That's why I've been more rare in my contributions to TNF lately, assuming that trolleybusses are not TNFers' cup of tea...
Ah, and my GTV6 just got an engine swap, my Bertone waits I reassemble the clutch, the Laverda SF needs attention for a raising oil consumption, and the Giulia Super just needs body and engine restoration.
And my archive is best described as a (partial) mess, with hundreds of old racing magazines hanging around...

I should finally make some kind of website too, at least to show my modelcar collection... and, oh yes, I just recently found you can buy nice models cheaply on eBay... It will probably take quite a lot of time.
And it seems that I won't be able to use company car anymore soon. So I'll have to buy myself a car. And only condition is that it has to be at least so old as I am. It could consume some time too - probably more when I actually buy it than while searching for it...
