I have seen in 1977, during Paul Ricard 500 kms, a little car whose name was Vogue SP2,
driven by John Morrison & Richard Jenvey. It seems that Vogue was an artisanal make like Daren, Huron, ...

Have you some informations about Vogue ?

HEROS, the Vogue was a one-off Britich 2-litre Group 6 car, built in about 1974-75, by Lester Ray, who was I think later involved in the Harrier or Ceekar C2 cars. From memory it was quite a nice car, though not on the pace of the quicker Lolas/Chevrons of the time.

John Morrison regularly posts on 10/10ths, you may be able to glean more info on the car there. I wonder why the car has cropped up now ??

As usual Dan you are quite accurate, the Vogue was owned and raced by Orpington Dentist Dave Mercer for a number of years late 70's/80's

More recently, it was raced in AT&T / Istel colours in 1991 Supersports events by Richard Dodkins, but not sure where it is now

I never managed to get any pics of the Vogue with or without it's bodywork :up:

racingsportscars suggests the Vogue chassis had Chevron origins can anyone verify this, and if so what Chevron type would we be talking about ?

You may have noticed that SP2 has a Brixner body work.

I hadn't but I see the similarities between the original nose and cockpit surround albeit now RHD.

I am just talking about the GRP body, Ralph, and it has been appropriately widened at the rear to go onto the Vogue SP2. It served a lot in those days for "modernising" local sport racers over here.

Apologies Lutz my wires got crossed, when I saw this photo of a Brixner I saw the similarities with the original version of the Vogue :drunk:

Do you have any pix of a Brixner where the tail looks like the SP2 ?

Unfortunately not, Ralph, as the rear was widened compared with the std Brixner body. But if you're a GRP man that's the easiest excercise you could imagine.

I've had a message from Richard Jenvey which clarifies some details about the Vogue chassis and body work on this thread :-

"I looked at your links to the Vogue and see that it was thought to use Brixner bodywork. Not so: The first was designed and made by Derek Mathews using a buck that he made himself, whilst the second was designed by me and made by Fred and myself in my garage. Fred had just finished a building contract which resulted in a stock of spare doors, so the sides of the mould consisted of two hardboard doors and resulted in the somewhat slab-sided look of the body. The chassis was originally Gropa – itself based on the Chevron B8 – but much modified first by Gropa, then for the DM6/SP1 and again for the SP2. "
