I am on the lookout for videos of Tasman Cup and Australian Gold Star races from '66 to '69. I have the first 2 videos available from here:

and know of footage in 'The BRM Story', but I was wondering if there were other videos available, especially '67 and '68.

Thanks Dave I didn't have any of those, so I've ordered them.

Unfortunately professionally filmed material is a bit thin on the ground. Shell made a few films but from what I can gather they've never been released.

Sadly there is a bonanza of privately filmed footage usually 8MM tragically rotting away in many basements/garages around the country.

Yes, I was happy to find those 2, I sent a pm to Greg Longfield about Volume 2.

The well-lubricated party on Volume 2 after the 1967 ATCC is rather amusing. There is also footage of the tailend of Beechey clouting the wall while leading.

Alec Mildren filmed various races through the series... I think maybe Scott Polkinghorne did some of it for him.

I remember seeing Alec filming in the pits at Longford in 1966.

More good news... film shot by TV channels of Warwick Farm racing has been recovered and will ultimately be made available in some form. Don't hold your breath...

If any of you do manage to unearth any of this footage or indeed any old motor sport films of any era , do please get in touch with MotorFilms Quarterly so that in time we can all get the chance to see them.

David,

Some of the Duke Videos "Champion" series DVD's have footage of the Tasman Series included in them circa 1966-68.

I have the "Hill", "Stewart" & "Clark" editions of that series, all of which have Tasman Series clips, from memory.

I have recently purchased the Through The Gears "Golden Age Of Motorsport Vol 4" which includes the 1968 Tasman rounds from Surfers Paradise and Warwick Farm. Unfortunately no footage of the epic 1968 Clark/Amon battle from Sandown is there, nor is any footage from Longford.

Bloodwood Gully Productions in Sydney are the only other people that I know of who have issued old racing footage from Australia on DVD, those bing the Beechey and Geoghegan titles that I have mentioned in another post.

If you watch R.P.M. (Network 10 Australia) you may have seen an interview with Frank Matich during the last few weeks. They showed some archival footage of the SR3 etc, which I'm sure was from the 1969 Rothman's film "Matich".... That, I'd like to see on DVD

Very interesting. Who is responsible at Melb Uni for the film? Who has the say on what is going to happen with it? Could they commercially release it?

I do know of Golden Age Vol 4, I ordered it the day after it was released, so I've had it about a month. Yes, the lack of '68 AGP on it was disappointing, considering the outcome of the race and that GTV9 and ATV0 both telecast it live into Melbourne. I am involved with the project developing the 1968 Tasman Series for Grand Prix Legends, so getting a hold of Vol 4 was essential for me.

Does this mean that the 1968 Tasman series will coming out on a DVD in the future?

I only know of the Surfers and Warwick Farm rounds on this DVD:

http://www.pitstop.n..._new/17711.html

and the ABC coverage of the Warwick Farm round which may be available in the future, as seen on Late Night Legends on the ABC earlier this year.
