Hello,

I am searching infos about the Fiat X1/9 Abarth Prototipo, raced in 1974 in national rallies in Italy, in 1975 in national rallies in france with Darniche/Mahé, 1974 at Giro d'Italia and Tour de France Auto.
I am searching for one car which has supposedly been destroyed. I have informations of all cars, exept the present owner of even this car.
Furthermore I am searching pictures, race results, starting numbers and number plates of Fiat X1/9 Abarth Prototipi at following races:

29. - 30. March 1974, Rally di Sicilia
29. - 30. June 1974, Rally delle Alpi Orientali
26. - 27. October 1974, Rally 100.000 Trabucchi
30.Nov. - 1. Dec. 1974, Rally Coppa Liburna (two cars, one with No.1, TOL65336)
September 1974, Tour de France Auto (three cars, one No. 122, one No. 123; one TOL65335, one TOL65337)
October 1974, Giro d'Italia (one No. 525, TOL65335, one No. 529)
15. - 25. Jan. 1975 Rally de Montecaro (with Jean-Claude Andruet, test drives)
23. Feb. 1975, Rally Neige et Glace
April 1975, Criterium Jean Behra
May 1975, Criterium de l'Ouest.

Would be great, if someone has some little information for me!

I have put most information I have about this car to my homepage http://x19world.de/Abarth.

Kind regards, Alex

A new member without response, impossible on TNF. Alex you decided right. Welcome here. As far as I have screened your profile, I registrated, you are from Germany. "Herzlich Willkommen".

Back to your question, can't help you out so far. And I saw, you are well organized with your homepage. I won't start to answer in the way of those "VW Karmann : Fiat X 1/9" Fights.

But I could remember those special bodies, named X 1/9. Perhaps, some of the other TNF members could go ahead and help Alex out.

I'll check my Abarth book tonight - unless I'm falling victim to the flu (snif).

Mt 3 abarth books don't offer anything more than that "3 or 4 were built" and Faza indeed had one or more cars.

Hello,

thanks for your replies! Yes, Cosentino owned two X1/9 Abarth + still ownes the Stradale version. I had a very nice phone call with him, he speaks a little german ;)
He sold his two cars to an Abarth collector in Japan. One of these cars is actually at Guiseppe Volta in Italy for restauration.
5 cars were built, one Stradale, one "Prototype of the Prototipi", two race cars and one muletto. I know 4 cars, but the 5th is lost... I have informations from 3 persons, all say they have the lost car. One in france, one in england and one in poland...

Anybody some more infos? I am still searching infos about the rally activity obove and in france 1975.

Regards, Alex

Hello Ray,

no, the Abarth's had the gearbox from the Lancia Montecarlo. The Dallara had a colotti 5-speed gearbox (see www.x19world.de/Dallara; sorry, only in german, but I am working on an english translation...). Many race X1/9's were fitted with the colotti, you were able to get 5 gears into the 4-sped housing.
