Joseph was reportedly cheated out of his share of the Revlon business by his brother Charles who Helena Rubinstein or one of the perfume ladies who referred to him as "That Man". So Charles named a perfume "That Man" and it was a huge success.

The fourth founder of Revlon was a chemist, Charles Lachman. He's the "L" in Revlon. He was also the 1st that Charles "bought out", then came Joseph and finally Peter's father Martin.

Leon Mandel claimed that Peter dated Majorie Wallace as a decoy to cover up an affair he was having with prominant but married New Yorker.

This is exactly the same for me, this song by Terry Jacks came on the radio just after I heard about Revson's death and to this day I think of him each time I hear it.

What was the cause of Revson's accident, and did he die instantly?

My apologies..........I hadn't watched the clip to its end, assuming that it was as titled, "Peter Revson - An American Racing Hero" tribute. After the comments posted here, I returned and watched it in its entirety. They could have left out the last few photos.

Friends:

Over the years the book has become a bit of a collector's item. In fact, Leon Mandel once asked us to find him any copies we could and just send them along. We gladly did so. Leon was a fine writer and editor as well as a an excellent storyteller. We can all be glad that he took on the project of writing the book.

I'll be holding onto my copy as it's the only tangible link I have to this great American racing hero.

As well I. I picked up my copy on ebay a few years ago. Only paid ten bucks as I remember.

Thanks, Peter. Still sad, I wandered around my 8th Grade school halls aimlessly for weeks.

Sad date is today by many reasons. One of it is Peter Revson's tragic accident at Kyalami's testing back in 1974, already 42 years ago.

Talk about the small world department - I have new marketing director and direct boss that started work Monday. In the course of discussing our backgrounds, it turns out his first job as a 17 year old was the PR Director at the Reading (PA) Fairgrounds. He got this opportunity by selling the race programs (beginning at 10 years old) that his dad's family business printed and the knowledge he had for the drivers and teams. Being the home of Team Penske, he said that if he put in one resume at Team Penske he put in 75; anyway, he started working for the team in 1975 and stayed until 1981. We were discussing Peter Revson on Tuesday, totally unaware of that being the day of his passing in 1974. My new colleague was lamenting Peter's loss and how he looked forward to seeing with him the team at Indianapolis in May of that year. Thanks for the sobering reminder of his loss.

I observed the 22nd by watching Peter Revson's "Grand Prix Heroes" DVD.

I only saw him once, behind the pits at the '73 Canadian Grand Prix after final qualfiying.  He had gotten the pole the previous year and qualified second in '73.  He was putting his equipment bag in the trunk of his car and a man standing not far away addressed him as "Revvie" and indicated that his pole time from '72 had not been beaten.  "That's right, Stu," Revson said, smiling.  Then he closed the trunk and went on his way.
