Hi all, today was my first test session of the year in my Formula Ford prior to next weeks' first race at Donington. As usual, there was one or two historic cars that were out, notably Martin Stretton in the Aston Martin DB3S and Barrie Williams in the Aston DBR1. There was also a LOVELY 1968 Alfa GT. I can't post images here, but I have forwarded a few to Barry Boor who will post them sometime tonight - enjoy!!

How about some ID, Gary?
What are Michael Milligan's pit-board, Whizzo Williams and an Australian mechanic (whose name escapes me for the moment) doing with a DBR4 Aton Martin? Did Whizz drive that in addition to the DBR1 you mentioned?

apologies David, I'm getting my Aston designations mixed up (again!!), Whizzo only drove the DBR4. I had him overtake me on the back straight on one lap and determined to savour the moment so gently feathered my throttle as he went by. It's not every day you get overtaken by one of those!!

The owner of the Aston also drove it as well as "whizzo". The Tipo 33 was driven by Matt Grist, The "Shapecraft" was driven By Malcom Ricketts. The DB3s was being shaken down by Martin Stretton. Shaun Walker was also there with his "Goldbug" replica. I was there as "gofer" with my pal Matthew Watts who was shaking down a Brabham BT6 and a BT21. A good time was had by all.

The 793 will be driven by "Mr Delta Motorsport" - Iain Rowley (another name you might recognise from the dim and distant past)

David, I dont think my pal who was driving the BT6 when "whizzo" spun in front of him would agree with that !!!!!

I stopped by at your car a couple of times in the paddock yesterday, Gary, but you were in hiding. I just wanted to congratulate you and your team on the superb preparation. It really does look the business! Hope you enjoyed the day and will look out for you at another event.

I liked the "For Ronnie" signwriting on the bodywork.

I was in the start line grandstand and was genuinely impressed with your start, I think you made up 2 or 3 places by Redgate.

If you hadn't been in such deep conversation I would have spoken to you, but I should be at Silverstone in June.

DEEPLY impressed by the colour coordination mate... Reminds me of the day DSJ saw my pal Robert Brooks racing a D-Type for the first time, wearing brand new cream Nomex overalls, and he said "My word, you do look absolutely BEAUTIFUL today - are you going to drive as well?".... :p
