WHAT SECTION WOULD HAVE THE BEST SEATS, IN YOUR OPINION, AT THE MONZA RACETRACK? I DON'T HAVE A PRICE BUDGET SO I'M OPEN TO ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS....
SHOULD I WAIT TO PURCHASE AT THE RACETRACK (I DID THAT AT INDY AND GOT GREAT SEATS) OR SHOULD I NOT TAKE THE CHANCE AND PURCHASE THEM ON THE WEB SITE?

I like Grandstand 6b by the first chicane or 12 by Ascari.

I was thinking about Grandstand 8 but with your video, I think you just sold me that Grandstand 6
Eh, two questions:
- From that GS 6 how far on your left (towards start-finish line) can you see??
- Any chance to easily jump on the racetrack for the post-race ceremonies from that stand??

It's easy to get to the track. You just walk under the grandstand. You don't even have to climb a fence.

Quick question about Monza tix... are the Friday and/or Saturday general admission (can you access other areas of the track?)... or are you locked into one grandstand for the entire weekend?

I am also planning on attending, and have a question or two as well.
Firstly, Does Monza open the pit lane to spectators on the Thursday before the event, as Spa, Montreal and other events have done recently?
Also, any opinion on Grandstands 9 or 10? I am looking for a stand that allows me to see the track, without looking through a tall fence. I am a photography enthusiast, and am hoping for some decent opportunities at this event. I went to Spa last year, and it was amazing what you could see, and photograph even without credentials.

All grandstand tickets are general admission all weekend, and on Friday, you can access all grandstands. However on Sunday, the general admission areas are pretty crowded.
I don't know how it is to take pictures from grandstand 9 and 10, but I think 9 is the best choice.

Thank you for your very helpfull reply. It was not clear on the Monzanet website exactly how the ticketing system worked, so I appreciate the explanation. That actually sounds really cool that I can climb into any of the stands Friday and Saturday.
Any idea about the pitlane being opened on Thursday? I have emailed the track three times, and have yet to get a response, most likely because I dont speak Italian, and perhaps they are having trouble with my "English".

The grandstands are open on Friday only, not Saturday.
I don't know anything about Thursday pitwalk.
I have nothing but good experience with e-mail from Monza. But it is a while ago I e-mailed them.
In 1999 I e-mailed them and asked if I could walk the track on Wedensday, and they replied it was OK. On Wedensday we turned up and showed the e-mail to the guards. They let us in and we were able to walk aroud the track with nobody around except the workers who were mounting advertisements and cutting trees around the track.
We even walked through the pits where the teams were busy.
We even got a glimse of Zanardi giving an interview to a tv team.
I don't know anything about Thursday pitwalk.

I was to Spa this year also. You must have a grandstand ticket to access the grandstands all weekend. This year I only had bronze ticket and was happy with that. We sat at Kemmel and got all action. We saw Alonso leaking oil as he passed, we noticed a strange tyre on Button's car just before he spun. Here is a photo of Coulthard from Kemmel.
The are a few problems. It allways rains at Spa, and the grass is wet and muddy. You must have proper clothes, water proof shoes, and you must have something to sit on. Spa was an amazing experience for me. I had Gold 3 seats, and I must say, they SUCK! As stated in another thread, the briliant organizers decided to put up a HUGE hospitality tent to our right, basically prevented you from seeing enything but about 100 meters of the track, it was horrid. However, the unfettered view of the track from the general admission areas is truely incredible. BUT, Sunday is a NIGHTMARE! I did not even bother trying to take photos on race day, I got them all done on Friday and Saturday. Here are a few, all taken from GA areas:

I originally was planning on going to both GP's as well, but have decided not to at this point. If I were going again, I would buy tickets in silver stands 5, 4, 11, 3, or 9. I REALLY wanted Gold 2, but I guess you can not get those seats. As for seaing Eau Rouge, I have to admit, that is a bit difficuly. If you get to the top of it early, before a session start, on Friday or Sat. you can get a pretty nice view, but from below, it is more difficult. You can stand inthe area that is where all the consession sales are made, and watch it, but it is fairly long way away.

good stuff... I'm doing Spa after Monza this year as well (thanks for the comments on Monza!). I think we may end up in section 6.
Last year we sacked up with Gold tickets near Eau Rouge... but this year we are going Bronze. There are numerous areas to shoot from... because Spa is so large.

I would be very wary of getting a bronze ticket at Spa for the race. As can be seen from the photo taken by Kjetil, the bronze standing is a bit of a nightmare, especially considering it's usually wet, mucky, slippy, etc. I was at Spa last year; but if going back on a budget trip again, I'd get bronze tickets for the Friday and Saturday, and grandstand tickets for the Sunday (too packed in bronze areas on the Sunday).... oh and never ever camp using a tent in Spa, especially one that doesn't display the best waterproof properties!!!
