Castle Combe mystery - phantom Vanwall Trophy race

Looking through some respectable websites the other day, I noticed that there is a Vanwall Trophy race listed as being won by Roy Salvadori in a Maserati 250F at Castle Combe on 22 July 1956. The race had 6 starters including one J. Brabham also in a Maserati.

Fair enough. Well done Roy, good race and all that.

However I seem to be having a little difficulty. All other sources that I have seen (including Bristol Motor Club website and Official Castle Combe website) state that Formula 1 motor racing ceased at Castle Combe in 1955 due to seafety reasons (following Le Mans tragedy) and did not recommence until 1962 after safety banking had been added to the circuit. This would seem to me to make it somewhat difficult to win a Formula 1 race there in 1956 (though with the redoubtable Mr Salvadori anything is possible)

What gives? If anyone can shed some light on this I would be much appreciative.

The Vanwall Trophy race on July 22, 1956 was held at Snetterton - not Castle Combe.
