This is wat Richie says on Mo Gugelmin:
"Defected from F1 to CART, where he raced until 2001. He then announced his retirement from driving, perhaps influenced by the death of his son from cerebral palsy earlier in the year. However, after a deserved rest, he has decided to race, in selected events, in the new Megane series in Brazil, amongst others."
He also has a website , that hasn't been updated lately. But you can send him an email.

Another factor in Mo's retirement, I've suspected, was his violent and scary accident in the ill-advised attempted CART race at Texas in 2001.

Big Mo held the closed-course qualifying lap speed record at an incredible 240.942 miles per hour. I can't recall, but it seems like somebody subsequently eclipsed that with a 242MPH run (maybe Arie Luyendyk at Indy?????).

That would be Gil deFerran's 241.428 lap, three years later, also at California Speedway. I was there for Big Mo's record run, and everyone there knew it was just incredible. He was on fire that day.
