Hi, I'm going to the Indy 500 this year, as well as the Canadian & U.S G.P's. I arrive in Indy on sat the 28th of May, would i be better off getting my ticket beforehand, or can you buy any good tix from a scalper on Sunday morning?

I've been told that the track is next to the airport, does anyone know of any hotels/motels not far from the track?

Any help would be most appreciated.

I can tell you that I've been told that staying downtown and commuting to the track is wayyyy cheaper than booking a hotel near the track at their inflated prices.

Weather you book your hotel near the airport or downtown there is a bus shuttle to take you to and from the track on race day. RE: "500" tickets depending on how many you need you should have no problems finding a good seat from a "street broker" if you get there early. I've been going to the 500 every year since 1998 and am a big fan of the bus to take me to and from the track on raceday.

The crowd for the USGP, however, is much smaller. Only 110,000+ as opposed to 350,000+ for the "500". If you drive here...I suggest you park your car on the track premises and skip the bus. The last two years I've got to the track for the USGP by 9am and have parked in the infield once and outside turn 4 (oval) for free.

Even in the pre Cart/Irl splitup "sellout" years I never had any problem getting good tickets from scalpers on Sunday.

I'm wanting to be in the grandstand on turn 1 for the 500. Do scalpers have tickets for this area on sunday morning???
