Guess the Grid Results: Australia 2005

Welcome folks to the first result thread for GtG 2005. A big thanks to Garth_B for the help he’s given me in figuring out how this works.

A few words on that:
- The spreadsheet used to calculate the results is more complicated than the computer used onboard the shuttle
- Only Stephen Hawking and Garth_B can understand it
- I am an idiot

When you combine these three things it explains why the results will always take me a little while, and it also means that they could, in theory at least, be completely wrong. But I hope not.;)

One more thing: I never realised how crucial the entry format was to how this thing is calculated. Getting your entry format wrong is a sure way to ensure I continue to drink heavily.

To clarify:
- Please use the correct name conventions for the drivers
- Please make sure there’s a space between your name and your guesses
- Don’t put spaces in your guess string
- Use the same username each time you play

These simple steps will ensure I don’t start stalking from office to office with an Armalite AR-10 Carbine-gas semiautomatic, bitterly pumping round after round into colleagues and co-workers.

So onto the scores. Obviously the much derided new qualifying rules, with the help of the weather, messed things up a little, giving us a very unusual grid.

Top score of 12 goes to Punisher6 and Antti. There was a 4 way tie for 2nd, on 11 were race addicted, Jyka, J Ruoska and our own Gerry nassar.
The average score was just over 7.
Most points were gained from picking Fisi and Webber close to their actual spots.

It looks to me like on Guess the Grid the format should be: Alapan driver1/driver2/...

but on Guess the Result the format is: Alapan/driver1/driver2/...

Either is fine as long as there is a delimiter ({space} or "/") between everything. JForce and I have the same spreadsheet from Garth_B

So I take it you'll be rewriting it so it doesn't take a degree in computational algebra to understand the last sheet?

It really is a cool system, if you had to do everything manually you'd just top yourself.

To claridy too, as WillieF1 says, leave a space after your name and use / between driver names. Try not to put one at the end too

What part of copy/paste/data sort is hard.

I print the results out and move them around by cutting them up with scissors and laying them out on a table ;)

Well done, however since there is a two-way tie for the lead it means that all the guys on 11 pts are tied for 3rd place, not 2nd. The guys on 10 pts are tied for 7th place etc.

Shss...I am tied in 3rd, so don't give them any ideas or excusses to demote me.;)
