Hi

We're thinking of going to Shanghai this year and starting to look at flights hotels etc. Anyone go last year and have any useful info? Particulary on how to actually get to the circuit from the city.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. We've already travelled to Spain, USA, Canada and Brazil for the GP so would be happy to return the favour and provide info on any of these.

Thanks

StephG

I stayed in Pudong, at the city centre because I had other touring in mind. However the trip from Pudong to the circuit takes ages. It will take 2 hrs to get there by bus, and maybe a little bit lesser by taxi. The traffic is crazy and the language barrier doesn't help much either. Always make sure your hotel writes down everything in Chinese. (just in case). There are bus services to the circuit. Purchase you tickets earlier coz it gets sold out fast. The tickets are usually sold at any sport complex or stadiums at Pudong. I can't remember how much the tickets cost, but it's cheap.

Go here for more transportation info.

Once at the circuit, you'll have to walk from the bus stop to your stands. The circuit is huge and it may take awhile. Always look at the circuit map for directions. I sat at the B grandstands, and I walked nearly half of the circuit, until I knew I could go thru a shortcut.

No other Visa is accepted there, accept Chinese visa. So always have cash around. There's a couple ATMs at the mall area, but packed with people. (And there are police men nearby with shotguns too! :) ).

Another thing, don't forget to get on the Maglev Train from the airport to the city center. It's the fastest train on magnetics. 430km/h..Damn! It's faster than an F1 car.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you want more info.

Bellissma, i'm going to this race too. How much was the taxi ride to the track??? (in RM, it's easier for me to convert to AUD)

I guess it's around RM50 - RM100, depending on traffic.

Hi Sith,

If you wish to see some pictures, go here :

Maybe it can help a bit. I just realised I don't have a picture of the bus station, but then I guess you'll take the cab anyway..

Enjoy.
