Many were made by BP and National Benzole, the most memorable for me was "The Home Made Car " about the restoration of a Bullnose Morris Cowley from the mid 1920s rescued from a scrap yard.
Copies of this film are now available on VHS from 'Take 3 Video' who own the rights to the BP film archive
Along with many other interesting titles 'L for Logic' guide to the driving test 'Overhaul' - the rebuilding of a red London transport double decker bus 'Coupe des Alpes', 'Paint', and many more.
Details can be found on the website at www.vintagebroadcasting.org.uk ( it also has some fascinating broadcasting jems from radio and TV ) - copies can only be ordered by telephone 0207 928 2097 from the BP film archive
Thanks to the Bullnose Morris Club for the information

They were mostly centered about Switzerland and Swiss but very interesting none the less- they included stories about old trucks, bibliobuses, racing and sports cars, historic hillclimb meetings up to Michael May (with his '56 winged Porsche story)...
Sounds interesting, I wonder if any of those are available on tape or disc ?

Hope it helps.
P.S. I just noticed they list sources (Literatur) for some of them... , but commendable.

In the opening sequence a' down and out' is sitting on a car seat in the middle of a scrap yard reading Motor Sport, you can tell that instantly from the distinctive, unique, GREEN cover!
It's an impessive film sevice.

Just discovered that this film was shown by the BBC in an experimental transmission of 625 line colour broadcasting on 5 November 1962. Don't know if this means that there is a copy somewhere at the BBC, but it's doubtful.

Yes, I think we discussed previously that a longish list of Shell films was used for these test transmissions, including this one. Shell do not answer correspondence it seems (is "dumb insolence" a proportional indicator of the size of large companies?). The Shell film library is believed to have gone to Beaulieu but they deny having this film.
