I've been reading Pomeroy's The Grand Prix Car as well as Ludvigsen's Classic Grand Prix Cars. There are little references about how many cars that raced from 1945 on were hidden and about where and how.
I guess many TNF members have many stories about this matter to post :)

Well, we've covered the Mercedes at some length .... the Alfas were all walled up in that cheese factory after they were removed from Monza. Some of the Auto Unions were probably in a salt mine at one point ....

Does anyone know exactly what Reg Parnell owned by the end of the war? Did I read somewhere that he had something like forty cars in storage waiting for the peace? Or did I dream that?

I think Tim's figure from memory was something like 32 or 33 - he and his schoolboy chums would go into the barns, select which car they fancied and which pre-war driving star they were going to be....and then they'd play racing drivers.
