"not a great nation for there racing history "....Dulchetti TZ Exeter a few mins ago :rotfl:

I think you're open for it there as I don't remember many Brits winning the 500 title since Bazza or the Brit GP for that matter......I guess none of them had a break eh?

What I meant was Dion , they are fairly non- plussed by there own world champions , as ' tarmac ' racing is not highly regarded in the good old US of A , I suggest :p

I know what you mean Phil,

My dad had various business connections over here and he had a friend come to stay in 1980 ish I asked him what he thought of Kenny Roberts and he hadn't heard of him! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: : They just didn't bother putting down tarmac on most of the tracks here. When the British tracks were dirt I'm sure the racing was pretty good too. I blame Nascar for it! there are lots of race fans here, it's just that there are lots of dirt fans too as you can just get a bike and ride it on a makeshift track in the backyard I suppose

Sadly, (though I have examples of him taken shortly after) Kenny is just out of view in this shot along with Barry Ditchburn.. Is that the hat of Kenny's mechanic Mike Sinclair that can just be seen behind Steve Baker?

Interesting article in MCN this week about an XR1200 Cal Rayborn replica.

Even more interesting to me is where did they get the black and white picture from, downloaded of the forum or even imageshack, don't think they could get into my computer.

Unusual for MCN or any Mag to use an unknown or copyrighted pic without permission, could John Nowell let MCN have a copy back in 1972?

Great shot, he was brilliant that weekend, lucky enough to have gone to Brands on the Friday to see him & Ray share the wins & 2nd places that day.

Hi Graham.

All my pics are either slides or prints from negs, only just getting round to scanning them. So no chance of me sending them a copy in 72.

It did post it on here last year and you "lucky lads" were the first to see it! lol

My offer from the far side of the grid: Baldwin, Schlachter, Pietri, Marshal, Wood, Sheene, Noddy, Aldana, Lingham, Cooley. And, possibly, my old man on the grass between the last two? Cant recall if that was one of the years he managed the GB team

While Graham is working hard at uploading his pictures again, I thought I would point you to this page dedicated to the Trans Trophy on the late Vincent Glon's RacingMemo website. I'm sure I've mentioned it elsewhere on the forum but it's worth a reminder here I guess

Anyone goy any pictures of Croz in 84 on the big Suzuki?

It was one of my first ever race meetings, I think my first all I recall as Grant and Marshall, and Gardner on the wide bar Moriwaki, what a privilege I didnt realise!

Donington 84 was the first time I went to a track other than Cadwell for bieks and I rememebr Lawson, Roberts and Spencer falling off

Buty mainly I rememebr Croz wheelying everywhere because he count keep up with all the 2 strokes!!

Surprised the Norton team was allowed to run its full JPS livery at Brands Hatch, wasn't tabacoo advertising illegal in the UK in 1991

I think that if it was not televised (this wasn't) then they could run with full ciggy sponsorship decals.

Personally, i've got nothing against ciggy advertising any way, especially with great liveries like JPS.

Roger Marshall & Bernard Murray in Team Qualifying, only 3 riders were seeded into British Team, Sheene, Potter & Grant, the other 6 places including reserve rider had to qualify with the fastest 6 into the team, in todays jargon it would be called a shootout :well:
