What I would like help on please is;

Who was behind Scuderia Picchio Rossa and Scuderia Ala d'Oro and where were they based?

I am trying to understand the history of Brabham BT30-21 and 22 as raced by Enzo Corti/Brambilla's and Pino Picca/de Adamich/Brambilla's in 1970 & '71. Both were crashed badly by Vittorio and yet both survived in Italy most likely lying dormant for many years.
Google and a search of TNF has yielded surprisingly little on these two Scuderia's! Can any one help?

:wave: Just noticd this unanswered thread ,to which I can show the following from the F2 urveys in Autosport :

1971 : Ala d0ro , another strange set up was this government italian team. With the Brambilla brothers driving and preparing the engines , team manager Sandro Angeleri had a problem. The 2 BT30s were written off , the majority of engines blew up , and the replacement March cars suffered the same treatment. Numerous other drivers appeared in the cars , the most impressive of which was Giovanni Salvati.(Who as I remember chrashed heavely at the end of the season , ending his carrier).

1970 : Ala D0ro , those terrible Brambillas , young Vittorio and the older Tino
, featured well when they were not flying of the road or blowing up their home brewed FVAs,and once they had swopped their BT23 and Dino for a pair of BT30s at mid-season. Vittorio could become a reasonable top-line driver.

Sorry , no chassis no. , but Andrew try also the thread Formula Two-the iconic proving ground , or Unsolved questions !
Cheers

Just a few things (I have not complete answers for you):

- Scuderia Picchio Rosso (not Rossa). In 1970 and 71 a Ferrari 512S was entered by Scuderia Picchio Rosso in the World Sportscar Championship for drivers Giampiero Moretti-Corrado Manfredini. Don't know if one or both the drivers were members (owners? managers? of the Scuderia).
- Scuderia Ala d'Oro (not Ala dOro).
- Pino Pica (not Picca).
- Giovanni Salvati lost his life in an accident at Taruma, Brasil, on 14 November 1971 at the wheel of the March 712M of the Scuderia Ala d'Oro.

Probably the "government support" Bjørn said is simply the contribution received by the Italian Federation (CSAI-Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana) and the Automobile Club Italy for the drivers of the team.
