There was me thinking that with all the excellent race circuit websites that exist, we probably had covered virtually all the post war race circuits - particularly in Europe.
Boy was I ever wrong!
I have been collecting together the list of races that I might run for my yet-to-be-built series of slot cars based on 1950-51. In order to make it all worthwhile I have decided to go back into the late 1940s to get as many different races as I can.
(I should mention that I get no pleasure from running cars on imaginary tracks - waste of time!)
Anyway, my list currently runs to 44 different venues, all in Europe. However, to my surprise I find not one, not two but several circuits that no-one seems to have any record of.
Here's the list:
Venice (probably a wet race!)
Montenero
Forli
Vigevano
Vercelli
Strasbourg (there is a Strasbourg map around but it is a pre-War track)
Douglas (Darren has 4 tracks from pre-WW2 but none match the 1947 circuit in length)
I wonder if there is any record of these places anywhere?
...and I thought we had them all...

The Circuito di Montenero was at Livorno, see http://www.silhouet....ks/livorno.html.

Barry,
I've e-mailed you a plan of the Douglas 1947 track, from the race programme.
Regarding Strasbourg, I don't think I've ever seen a plan of the circuit used in 1947.

Yes, of course, Darren. I should have known that!
Thank you, Adam. Another one added to the list.
I wonder if the Strasbourg circuit incorporated some of the older, longer one - as is the case with Montenero.
And how about Marc-en-Baroeul?

Worth mentioning that the Montenero circuit in its last configuration still exists. Or at least, the roads appear to be all there!
