I am trying to trace a sports car race at Goodwood (not the T.T.) in either 1964 or 1965.
Two of the protagonists were Roger Nathan in a Brabham BT.8 and David Hobbs in some sort of Lola.
Can anyone put a date or details on those few facts, please?

Probably 1965, as that's when the T70 was introduced. Robert Barker's book, "Motor Racing at Goodwood" has David Hobbs, T70-Chev, finishing third in the Easter sports car race (April 19), while wsrp has Nathan listed as "ST" (what does that mean?). Barker has Roger Nathan, Brabham Oldsmobile BT8, dropping out of the Whitsun meeting (June 7), while wsrp has Hobbs at Mallory! So must the April 19 race?

The problem is, I don't think the Brabham Oldsmobile was ready by Easter....

Robert Barker's first book, "A Record of Motor Racing at Goodwood" gives the results of the Easter Lavant Cup as Hobbs 3rd and Nathan retired after one lap. No other occaision when both were at Goodwood in 65 and by 66 the 2.0 litre limit for racing and sports-racing cars applied.

A Brabham BT8 fitted with an Olds V-8? Wow! Never heard of such an animal. Definite potential, I'd say. Actually, I always wondered why we never saw a BT8 with a Repco V-8 from a privateer if not Blackie himself. Seemed a natural to me. Perhaps the chassis wasn't up to the extra torque?

There's a photo of the start of the Easter Monday 1965 Lavant Cup race in the programme for last year's Goodwood Revival meeting, in which Roger Nathan's BT8 Oldsmobile is just about visible. Looks as though it had a fairly drastic nose job compared to how it had been in its previous year's more conventional Climax powered form. I have also seen fairly recently a photograph of the back end of the car, with stack pipe exhausts, taken (IIRC) at Silverstone. Can't recall which book or magazine, but if and when I find it, I will post.

I was fortunate enough to see some of Roger's own photos of the Brabham-Oldsmobile at the last Northern TNF pub gathering - it should be appearing (from various angles) in Roger's forthcoming book. It did, indeed, have a larger radiator aperture than the Climax-engined car.
