A punch-up at Monaco?

Don't know if this has been discussed before as I couldn't see anything in the archives.

Just watched a program on satellite called Inside Formula One (or something similar) and it is obviously covering the Monaco GP.

In amongst tech info on the current cars there was a segment on past races and it showed Lauda's first win in 1975. However in the shot when he crossed the line there was someone jumping up and down celebrating on the edge of the circuit next to the guy with the flag. The guy celebrating got dragged back by someone, and as he was being pulled back he seemed to turn round and lay one on whoever was pulling him back.

In the next shot it looked like the same person running alongside Lauda (jumping up and down again) as Niki walked towards the 'podium'. The guy looked to be wearing a yellow race suit.

Anyone know if he was a driver or if it was it just some random Lauda Fan-boy. (I'm not very good on 70's GP stuff I'm afraid).

That's AFAVA footage. Luca Montezelemo (he always said there was no "de" in the middle when I did graphics at FOM). and I remember he swung his arm around, but it was not a punch as such. Don't remember a guy in a yellow suit

Looked like a yellow race suit under a jacket, may not have seen it properly as it was quite quick.

Just looked like the arm was swung round quite quickly so it looked like a punch. Not quite as interesting as I thought then.

Ferrari had some very enthousiastic mechanics during that era.


I will never forget the Ferrari Magneti Marelli guy in yellow overalls who shared the Fuji 1977 podium with Patrick Depailler.
This yellow guy also was displayed on several podium pics.

That's exactly the guy I meant.

He's fantastic.

Luca use to get pretty rude at Watkins Glen in the '70s when he was first with Ferrari. He once gave gave me a shove in the crowded garages. Fortunately, I'm just turned and laugh at him. Why he was trying to walk through a packed crowd of Sardines is beyond my imagination. Actually I was stunned anyone could be that arrogant.
