In order to prepare and finally win the Mexican GP 65 ...
Does Honda :
-rent the mexican track before official practice to get the car better prepared to the altitude than opponents ?
-send a Japanese team in Mexico one month before to practice ?
-Honda reproduced oxygen rarefied conditions in the motor testing department in Japan ?
What is the true from false of these statements ?

it will not be a problem if the price was in cash .But the prize is a free ticket for the GP de France at Magny Cours ...
there was 30 questions to answer , and I confess I needed help for 4 questions, where I couldn t find the answer in my books, mags, or immediate memory .So I try to find a way to find them .
and for the question above, it is rather difficult to see what could be the most realistic (??)
and Atlas Bulletin Board is one of the most valuable source..
anyway, if I won the prize , that s courteous to let you know .

The first. "The Honda team were taking this last race of the present Formula much more seriously than some of the other teams. Bucknum and Ginther were out for special early morning practice sessions from 6 to 9 o'clock each morning, on the three days before official practice started." - Motor Sport, December 1965, page 1081.

Second prize is presumably two tickets. I think in this case assistance isn't morally objectionable; I can think of a few worse things in racing than attend an F1 race at Magny-Cours, but most of them involve British F3. ;P

I am not technically minded or particularly knowledgeable about the oily bits but the Honda victory at Mexico in 1965 was notable for one thing in particular.
During most of the season following a disastrous Monaco debut the Honda RA272 was extremely quick but prone to losing power as the races wore on and the engines heated up. Paradoxically in Mexico where all the other runners traditionally lost power due to the high altitude (c7000 feet) the Hondas were not so badly affected and apparently did not lose power or heat up.
No doubt others better qualified will know why.

The RA 272 had a transverse engine. The problem was caused by oil starvation at the crankshaft due to surge during cornering. It took Honda some time to diagnose the problem, but when they found the cause they fixed it.

The Goodyear tires used by the Hondas and Brabhams were the key to this race. All the Dunlop cars had severe understeer, some more than others, mainly in the hairpin and following esses. Ginther and Gurney were the fastest through that section.
Goodyear's first F1 win. They did pretty well the next two seasons, as well.

I even wish the ticket if I won , can be exchanged with someone showing a greatest interest thanme on that event !

Kevin Buckler races a Pontiac GTO-R in the ALMS here in the States. He has also successfully raced Porsches and Daytona Prototypes in the past few years.
