Just received a flyer for Bonhams auction that will take place at the Goodwood hillclimb.

There is a sports car (possibly single seater based) in the flyer described as an HWM Aston Martin.

Does anyone know anything about this car?

I could of course wait for the catalogue to appear but am far too intrigued!

Ray Fielding fitted an early HWM with an Aston Martin engine and Connaught sports body
I always though the basis for this exercise was one of the 1950 works cars but more recent information (DCN 2005) says the hybrid's origins were in the 1949 prototype (HW-Alta)

Could this be the car from Scotland ??? that appeared in the HWM display at Goodwood several years ago ???? It looked like one but its origins were unknown. Lets hope Simon Taylor is reading this thread ?????

I think this HWM was fitted with a Jaguar engine and raced in N.Ireland in the mid-sixties by Tom Megrath.

Perhaps Squire Straker can add some details to blow away the mists?

Errr - a lot of this is news to me. Interesting body shape - looks reminiscent of the prototype single-seat DB Aston Martin doesn't it - the car Reg Parnell drove down under...

There goes the best hope of identification!!

Looking at the photo I'd have guessed it was one of early specials from the guy who is now building things called Vanwalls (called Ronarts maybe?).

I couldn't see it before and I can't now
(I've noticed this before with PhotoBox links - some people can see them, some can't)

Apart from the suggestion of Ronart does anybody get the feeling that this is a more "modern" production than something from the mid 50's?.

it would appear to be the Tommy Mc Grath HWM Jag special , which moved south to Alec Watkins in 65 or so , it then moved to another owner in Dublin before crossing the Iriah Sea . Straker Squire confiormed to me about a year ago that the nose was from the prototype Aston F1 car .

As far as I am aware the basis of the Ray Fielding car was GP3.
I seem to recall an article in Thoroughbred and Classic sports Cars in the late 70s showing this car in Barbados without a body. I will search through my old copies and give the date. It was also at Goodwood in 2001 with the owner being a Mr. Scott?
On another issue Ted Walker have you have a stand at the Goodwood Festival or will you be at le Mans??

Gentlemen please Squire Straker, Sir Roy Feddon is a personal hero.
Regarding the HWM Aston Martin/HWM Jaguar. I look forward to Bonhams and Tim Schofield acknowledging the research that I have undertaken to date.
