I was wondering how many of those cars were build and also why those cars did'nt get the same succes as the Alfa Romeo Monza.

161 chassis according to Hugh Conway's "Grand Prix Bugatti", 149 completed by 1930, five in 1931, three in 1932, two in 1933 and one each in 1934 and 1935. The last one was delivered to Pierre Veyron.

To answer the second part, the Monza Alfa was a Grand Prix car, the T43 Bugatti was a four-seat touring-car

I think Robert is confusing the various 8C-2300 models.
Nevertheless, I wouldn't even put the T43 in the same sporting bracket as (say) the contemporaneous 6C-1750. At least in Irish races they showed a remarkable propensity for catching fire ....

Way Way back in 1954 a friend of mine phoned to ask me to come and look at a Bugatti type 43 which was for sale in Leek, Staffs (I could still take you to the house ), the vendor wanted £150 for the car and James had not got £150, he had £130. The bloke would not be moved, he wanted £150 and that was that. But he said " You can have that for £130". So I drove James' mother's Alexander Standard 10 home and James drove Green Pea home. I wish it was now!!!
