I recently saw this T 26 GS (#110057) and i'm since trying to learn more about it's history; unfortunately i can't find anything after Guy Mairesse's accident in 1954 ... can someone help ?

After the accident 100057 was rebuilt with 1947 Grand Sport bodywork but for most of the time since 1959 has had open-wheel bodywork. In the hands of Richard Pilkington since that year it must be one of the most raced cars in historic racing. Does your picture mean he's rebodied the car since I last saw it? Or is this car in fact the road car which was equipped with the ex-Mairesse body in about 1969, and was offered at auction by Coys in 2002?

The Motto body received a new chassis.
So cannot be #110057.

So 110057 and its Motto coachwork lived separately since Mairesse's accident, and "my" talbot is a re-creation ... quite an unexpected end for my search i must admit...

There are pictures of the Talbot-Lago T-26 GS, chassis number 110057, driven by Guy Mairesse, in the Talbot book. The photos show it both with the standard two-seat cycle fendered body and the later Motto body. There's also a photo of the Motto bodied car after the crash that claimed the life of Mairesse. In that book it is claimed that after the crash, the chassis received a standard Grand Sport body and was on display in a British museum. I suppose the Motto body could have been saved, but then reunited with the original chassis?? I suppose stranger things have happened, but...
