Nahhh...say it aint so ;)
ANYHOO....Bernie makes phone call to mend relationship with domestic appliance
As good old CJ would say
I didn't get where I am today without knowing who to call to get the Hoover mended

[B]So what you're saying dworsham is that everyone speaking to the public should say precisely the PR-vetted, politically correct boring crap that I and many other people are so bored of?
not sure what in my post prompted your assumption that I desire everyone to have PC speak - as that is not what I am saying at all.
I simply stated that a little empathy would have gone a long way in this case and that sense of humor is not the same in all areas of the world. Further, that someone like in a position of power should be sensative to this.
I just don't think there is room for this in the business of F1 or other.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Although Danica Patrick got plenty of publicity for her season in the IRL, she certainly doesn't want much for her wedding.
The 23-year-old driver, who finished fourth in the Indy 500, and physical therapist Paul Hospenthal, 40, were married Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Team spokesman Brent Maurer said Patrick has asked Rahal Letterman Racing to release virtually no information on the ceremony. Maurer could only confirm Tuesday that Patrick was married and that car owner Bobby Rahal was there.
Though she is accustomed to driving at 200-plus mph, Patrick told People magazine this year that one of her favorite things is sharing life in the slow lane with Hospenthal and their miniature schnauzer, William Robert, called Billy.
"She's kind of a TV junkie," who also enjoys barbecuing and working out, Hospenthal told the magazine. "But you won't see her watching much racing."
Patrick met Hospenthal while seeking treatment for a hip injury from a yoga session.
As for Paul . . . cradle snatcher.

As an American male living in the USA, I don't understand this so-called 'British Humour' either. Was Bernie maybe being sarcastic, or something ? Can someone (someone from England ?) explain what he ment by this remark ? Like Danica, I cant make sense of his remark, either.Originally posted by Jackie
You lot are SO funny. As a British female living in the USA, it amazes me that Americans still don't understand British humour. Don't you guys get it ? Really?
I honestly can't believe that some people took it seriously

I could , but that would mean digging Bernie out of this hole. And as I consider him an unutterable little shite, I am not about to do anything that helps him.Originally posted by Jonathan

So you will have to remain puzzled, I fear.

What kind of person gives a dog the name Wiliam Robert???
#65
Posted 24 November 2005 - 09:57
A dog breeder, if it is a pedigree animal which I imagine it is. Pedigree dogs often come with the most elaborate names, becuase which they have to be listed on their breed register and need a name that defines them and their parentage. So that's why Mr and MS Hospenthal have simply shortened it to Billy. Seems pretty down to earth to me.Originally posted by MrSlow

Has anybody imagined already what kind of media attention IRL would have had last year without her?
And what effects that should have had in shortterm and perhaps long term future for the IRL and US single seater racing in general?
She has done more to keep IRL in the news than many others.
OK, and some credits for another thing:
Apart form keeping IRL in the news. It wasn't only because of being there because otherwise Sarah Fisher might have accomplised about the same.
which Fisher didn't.
Thus....

Get over yourselves. Bernie was taking the piss, tongue in cheek - Simple as that. Relax, you'll enjoy life more.
Anyone taking issue with this - the problem is not Bernie, but yourselves. He gave her a write-up and laughingly belittled himself.
I really doubt the magical midget would care to much if anyone takes exception with his comments. He could always cry himself to sleep on a bed of billions.
