Here is a painting I have done for Ray Mallock that some of you might like to see. It is 6ft x 3ft and the scene is Copse, near to the family home at Roade.

Ray wanted his father Arthur in the early 60s 1172cc U2 at the front, brother Richard in his 1971 front engined Formula Ford Mallock Mk7, Ray himself in his '83 Aston Nimrod and his son Michael in the year 2000 P20 National Supersports car. Members of their family are painted in the crowd.

An example of how 'we' as artists can create a fairly realistic scene on canvas that could never have happened. Note too how I have tried to show Silverstone as it was in the 60s to the right and in 80s guise behind Ray's Aston to the left.

Hope you like it!

Quite fantastic Andrew, great talent, I couldn't do that if I sat at the canvas for a thousand years, really beautifully done.

If only we could also turn the clock back to attend some of the great race meetings of the 60's & 70's

Very well done.

Marvellous Andrew. As you say, the advantage is that you can produce a fantasy scene that would never have happened, one that some of us may have liked to see and one that may well have happened in our minds. I like that very much.

Arthur looks to be enjoying himself!

I like the idea of members of the family in the crowd - it makes it even more personal.

Yes, it started off with Ray wanting his daughter shown but then spread to other family members.
Thanks for the kind comments chaps.

I just hope the old geezer with the skinny wheels gets out of the way of the car with wings in time!

Nicely done, Andrew...

I'm used to looking at this sort of thing done by Shane Cowham, though I don't think he's doing much at all these days.

An old painting I found in the attic - could it be a Monet during his black and gold period ?

Bleedin' beautiful Andrew.

Where is daughter Sue?

She is married to Bill Stone and they live not far from Pukekohe.
