This article first describes the facts about Loos as a driver and later as an entrant. Providig the GeLo team with the best drivers, flying in at race events by helicopter and winning quite a lot for a private entered team.

The last third is about him after racing and should have answered your question to the full. It became silent with him in the eighties with rumors of finacial problems. Only two years ago he resurfaced again in the press. He lives in both Germany and Switzerland. He denies any financial problems and states he can move freely in both countries. He only has little contact with racing (only one old friend).
Basically not a satisfying answer, or indeed he dully lost interest in racing and quietly left the scene and chose for a quiet life.

I am collecting material about Georg Loos and Gelo Racing as I do have the same name by accident. The last racing information about Georg Loos I found is from 1981 season when Stefan Bellof was under contract for the Formula 3 Championship plus doing a GP in Hockenheim with R5-Turbo. Aftwards Georg Loos got into financial problems with his real estate business and his companies like Gelo Racing and Gelo Heli went out of business. If someone has any material about Georg Loos and Gelo Racing I am always interested.

The new Gelo Racing is done by the son of Georg Loos, his name is Alexander Loos. I met him several times and he is a very nice guy but has broken with his farther a few years ago.

I'm sorry to read of his passing. I remember quite vividly seeing his 935s racing.

Yes, he was certainly a "figure" when I grew up. And his cars were very stylish.

RIP, GeLo. :(
