A post from Kathy Every-Burns:
The recipient of the Judy Ganley Award for Most Improved Player, Pam Jacoby, at Blackhawk Country Club
Danville. To her left is our Head Golf Professional Tim Burr and on the right is BWGA Professional Matt Capasso.
Judy is missed but will never by forgotten. A great lady and a great friend to all here at Blackhawk.

Thanks to Erin for expressing what was in all of our hearts today. I have been thinking that it would have been an awesome 70th Birthday bash, if only Mom could have been with us to celebrate it. Hopefully she knows that we are thinking of her today (as always, but especially because it is an important birthday), and miss her tremendously.

Eric

PS: Above is a picture of Mom on one of her most significant birthdays: June 26, 1975 when she married the love of her life, Howden Ganley. Happy (34th and counting) Anniversary, Mom and Howden!

I apologize for the non-motorsport comment here, but it seemed relevent since the Wake Up to Wogan show finished December 18th with big fanfare.
In 1993 Paul Walters became the producer of Wake Up to Wogan and, together with Terry Wogan, made it one of the most popular radio programmes in
the UK. It had a regular 8 million listeners, making it the most listened to radio broadcast of any European nation. Walters became famous and a household
name by taking part in Wogan's infamous banter, acquiring the nickname "Dr Wally". Sadly, Paul died of cancer in 2006. I was fortunate to spend some time
with him at the 2004 Howden and Judy Golf Day and here are a couple of the pictures from that day - "promoting" a beverage and receiving an award...

I recently found the following clipping from Motoring News (as Motorsports News was called in those days.)
At that time, 1970, March Engineering had been going for just over a year. Chris Amon was driving the
March 707 in CanAm, but Max and Robin were always on the lookout for opportunities to expand, and an
all-girl team in CanAm for 1971 would have had the potential to attract some good sponsorship. Mom's
racing career was going very well at that stage, and a jump to CanAm would have been a big boost!

The Judy Ganley Memorial Golf Day 2010 took place recently at the Maidenhead Golf Club. Howden Ganley, Judy's husband and Judy's daughter Erin were on hand to present the winner's trophies to Pat McCorry and Elaine Moffat.
The tournament raised money for the Target Ovarian Cancer Fund.

Just catching up here. The Judy Ganley Memorial Award for the Most Improved Lady in the Blackhawk Country Club BWGA was won in 2010
by Sue Fosburgh. Here are a couple of pics from the prize giving. In the first one Sue is celebrating by sipping red wine from the trophy –
somewhat similar to Judy toasting at Sebring in 1970 and later. See Post #55. The other pic is of Sue with the Trophy, without the beverage .

Lovely shot of Judy with the Car of the Century

Does anyone know a little more about her "sponsor" (full name?) from Vallejo?

[Edit: being so close to Sears Point, I would imagine there might be quite a few tuning/race businesses in Vallejo]

A fabulous shot of both my parents - That's my dad, Serguey Kondratieff in the left corner taking a photo. I'll check with him to see who the sponsor was. There is an Autosport mechanic shop in Vallejo now, but not sure if it's the same group or not.

I have just found this really great photo taken at Le Mans in 1975 in the Gelo pit. We had the best looking timekeepers ever that year

and the press spent more time in our pit than they did the winners, who, by the way, were Derek and Jacky. We managed 5th overall in our RSR, won the Index, the GT class, and a special prize for the least time spent in the pits. 20 mins I think it was.
