overall, an entertaining race. kimi drove simply great, so did hamilton until he made a really stupid mistake. sure he should have been called earlier and the tyres were damaged, but not THAT much, he was lapping at reasonable pace if i recall correctly. and he had no reason at all to look for tenths in at the pit entry.

vettel was very lucky with timing of the pit stop, but he also drove brilliantly during the entire race. liuzzi did good too - he managed to hold heidfeld behind him.

good race by button and kova.

kubica... as i said in the other thread, it looks like he used all of his luck for 07 in canada. such a shame, he had high chances of finishing the race at p3 (i think he needed to pit).

Looking at the standings now, such an awful shame Ferrari had so many odd reliability problems this year, they would have quite easily clinched it if the car had been rock solid like the McLaren this year...

Alonso took a nice shot at the team in the PC. He said he hopes the performance of the cars will remain the same throughout the whole weekend not just Q1 and Q2. Lets hope so as well. There is no way they want Alonso to win the WC.

Alonso still goes on and on about the Q3. Lewis had the least amount of fuel, didn't he? Is Alonso complaining about Lewis having (OMG! Travesty!) less fuel for Q3, or is he too stupid or too paranoid to realize Lewis had less fuel and wants his fans to think Lewis had some special new car parts added for Q3?

For 95% Kubica hadn't to pit again.

His first pit stop was because of tyres. He had fuel ... but he got more fuel and 'hard' tyres ... this could the first ever win for BMW's crap ...

The time he retired he was faster than Kimi or Fernando

And what exactly did Felipe do? Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. When the track was partially wet he was struggling and finally let FA pass him. When it was dry he was dog-slow until at the end he "found" some speed. I mean if you are right behind FA after his stop and 10 seconds away in a few laps, you haven´t done your job. It really seemed that he (FM) was not motivated at all - piss-poor teammateship IMHO.

KR drove a strong race and deserved his win. Kimi was also wise enough to spare his tyres in the beginning, when LH was all the time going flat out. FA was fast, when it really mattered and FM, when it did not matter anymore.
Vettel had a great race.

Many posters have blaimed the Mac team, that it delayed too much, when the team should have called LH to the pits earlier. But because the Mac fuel tank is not very big, LH could not have come in earlier or he would have been forced to come to the pits once more. So I think, that the blaime for this catastrophical outcome has to put to shoulders of Lewis. He knew, that his tyres were no-good, so he should have taken hio inlap more carefully. After all a routine pit stop amd a routine end stint would have meant at least 4th place for LH. Then KR would not be any threat to him and Fernando would be 9 points away. In that situation LH could have waited the Brazilian GP calmly. Now the pressure is still on, although LH is still number 1 favourite to the title.

If the Mac drivers will tackle each other out during the start in Brazil, then FM will probably win his home GP and KR will secure his title by one point to LH with his second place. This is not a very probable scenario but it is the only one, where Felipe has a realistic chance to win this race, unless Kimi is hurt by technical problens.

I heard a crew member from Ferrari tell Felipe to put away the Cheetos, the race wasn't finished...sometimes I get the feeling Massa thinks his car is a sofa. :down:

What happened to Heidfeld after Robert's pit stop?
BMW needs to have a serious look at their reliability.

just saw an inteview with kubica... he had enough fuel to finish. he what, 13 seconds over p2 with 20-something laps to go?

heidfeld was probably given inters, he pitted for the second time a few laps later.

kubica said in the interview he made the decision to stay on hards for a few laps when it begun to rain mid-race, and those were "horror laps" but it paid off.

jesus christ. it really looks like he could have won it.

I agree it's not only fuel load, probably 'skill' has something to do with it.

When NH was trying to pass Liuzzi in the late stages of the race, the BMW gear-box sounded like a box of hammers or whatever Brundle would call it.

Kimi was 3 seconds adrift of Kubica at that time.

But I agree, it was a one-of-a-lifetime chance for winning this year and BMW blew it.

so i maybe it was 13 seconds between 2nd and 3rd? i looked at the screen and then kubica's car was shown going at around 50km on the straight so i could have mixed something up.

They overheated Alonso's tyres, according to some sources. So the soft tyres lose grip, specially in the fast sector where grip is more needed.

Alonso has said that he thinks it's imposible he finishes more than 6 tenths behind his teammate having been competitive all the weekend (1 tenth behind in the first attempt).

Friday practice 1 difference between Fernando and Lewis is 0.102. Advantage: Alonso
Friday practice 2 difference between Fernando and Lewis is 0.263. Advantage: Alonso (P2 0.006 behind Kimi)

Alonso said that he didn't make any mistakes on his flying lap.

It's simple something was wrong with his car. He should request an investigation in that case.

But it's nothing new. Anyone who does not see that FIA is breaking and adapting the rules to help LH wind the WDC must be completely blind or have UK galsses on nose. Now it looks like also McLaren team is breaking the rules to help FIAmilton...

At the beginning of the season I was a huuuuge fan of LH!!! He was superb! His aproach to racing was special. But after some races I recognized that someting is wrong. All the actions made by FIA clearly started to favour Hamilton. This is not sport anymore...

Kimi: Masterpiece. Fast when needed won direct fight with Hamilton, No mistakes. This was his most dominating weekend. One could see and feel it.

Alonso: great. Don't like him, but he is trully a great diver and today he was on it. He may even win the championship!

Massa: Should have done a bit better.

Vettel: :eek:

man of the race [boy of the race, actually] and one of the best drives of the year.

Button: He's talented, he's reliable. Good race. Give him a McLaren

Liuzzi: Good performance, but Vettel...

Heidfield: Consistent.

Coulthard: Experience over speed.

Kovalainen: ragged but even so in front of fisico.

Hamilton: Mistakes happen. But he could have just played safe. It can cost him a lot....

And that overtaking from the Renaults to Rosberg? WOW!!! Fisichella :up:

Kubica would finnished in podium that's for sure!

Wurz: Well, not a very sucessfull carreer but a honest good driver. And a great tester. :up:

To be honest I haven't really started to think about McLaren doctoring Alonso's car until lately. But to me, those times and Alonso's words are enough prove.

Fantastic race, great drive by Kimi and what a set up for Brazil!! Vettel was brilliant, as was Button. Ralf too until his idiotic move on Luizzi.

Oh and somebody shoot the fricking Alonso conspiracy theorists - please. :mad:
