As for 1976 German GP - I've heard that full TV footage of the race exists, but it's not possible to get it due to some sort of copyright issues between German TV and the company which filmed it.

Hopefully one day that footage will see the light of day. If the footage from the other German GPs of the period is anything to go by, it should be fascinating viewing.

For me, the holy grail of TV coverage would be the '68 British Grand Prix. I was happy to find 3 minutes of English language broadcast footage here (from 2:30 to 5:30):

It includes a very short Barrie Gill interview with Siffert on the winner's truck.

I've seen another, shorter clip from the same broadcast footage (from a documentary about the friendship of Siffert and the sculptor Jean Tinguely).

Anyway, it proves that there is video out there somewhere. It would be great if it surfaced some day.

Great find Chris! That clip alone is a reason for me to buy 'Live fast die young' on DVD.

Agreed. There was also a Preview Programme by ITV on the Friday evening showing practice/qualifying

It's probably long gone, but then again I always thought there was no moving footage of the 1967 South African GP that existed, and then I found out that ITN sent a news crew there. I can't find a log of their footage on the ITN Source website anymore though!

By the way, there's another documentary about Siffert, which contains even bigger part of tv broadcast of 1968 British GP:

Another part of tv footage is in Grand Prix Greats Episode 7: John Surtees documentary. About 1 minute of footage showing Surtees driving with damaged car.

Rai are currently showing archive stuff including the full 1977 Italian Grand Prix from Monza and a brief highlight package from Monaco 1970. You can watch it on their website.
