With paydrivers like Yamamoto gone, we could have an interesting debate in this topic.:) All the given names may sound like decent drivers, but who is not as good as others?:D

Between Davidison and Sutil I'd say, Sutil is unproven whilst Davidson has not beaten Sato convincingly and Sato is at least 0.5 sec off competent level pace, when his efforts against Button are compared.

Vettel and Bourdais are also candidates for worst driver, not by much of course, only 1-2 tenths worse than a better option for the Toro Rosso team (e.g. Ralf or Liuzzi) we are talking - but that is enough for 14th compared to 17th - a huge difference for the Toro Rosso team !!!

Excellent! The F1 field now consists of 22 highly competent drivers! Now if we could just sort out more than 4 competitive cars, that would be just lovely. :)

Bourdais is far from the worst driver. He's a proven race and championship winner. Vettel on the other hand I agree is overrated.

Somehow I knew Nakajima would come first. This is exactly why I hate Rosberg. They think he is so great and all while he's not much faster than Nakajima. I would love to see Rosberg get humiliated by Nakjima this year

This season is different because I can't think of a single "bad" driver, they're all competent and deserve to be in F1. The worst? Davidson comes to my mind but last year he had 1 or 2 pretty impressive qualifying runs and was pretty close to Sato (and we know that team was made for Sato...); Sato himself has shown in the past that he's erratic and very far from, say, a driver like Button but in 2007 he was awesome in overtaking, maybe the very best in the field in this particular skill; Nakajima has probably the worst CV of them all, but i see some good pace in him, that fastest lap of his race in Interlagos was impressive; Fisichella has been **** the last 3 seasons but before that he had quite a good record in F1 and will now be in an environment that fits him better.

I'll vote for Nakajima but it might be unfair to him, really.

I dont think any driver is bad but from that list the one who was less good IMO was Davidson.

I think this kind of thread is unnecessary. Everybody that gets to F-1, works hard at it, knows how to race, and deserve a bit of respect

Maybe not necessary but the question in itself is as valid as one for the best driver.

Nope. Both are absolutely stupid questions.

While some are not quite as fast as another, i have no idea how many of you can make a broad decision about the pace of someone like Nakajima. Who has one F1 race to his name!

This year has probably the most complete, and polished field in F1 ever. And there is a thread on who is worst?

Everyone is on smack.

What a stupid attitude; you hate Rosberg because people don't rate Nakajima?

personally I think Nakajima may be the revelation of the season; however, you're a clown.

Worst? Difficult. Either Aguri driver, on pure results.

And the fact that Nakajima is heavily sponsored by Toyota and Williams are using Toyota engines is pure coincidence of course? He's surely landed that seat regardless? :cat:

Nakajima's done one race and in that single race he managed both to be involved in an incident with DC and run over his mechanics. As DC himself said - 'F1 is not a finishing school'. He may be talented, but he's still a student. Time will tell, but for now I go with Nakajima.

Once upon a time there were these "pay drivers" named Nick Loudest, Gerald Hamburgerler, Jack Stewart, and Michael Shoemaker, what ever happend to those guys? I heard rumor the Stewart guy was working at a circus, but the others I'm not sure of.

Exactly! ('') However, I agree with Risil that F1 has 22 competent drivers. Now what we really need are more or less equal cars (actually, we've been needing it for the last 30 years with the exception of a couple of seasons).

I see a chance for this beeing solved in 2009, with Honda and BMW coming closer to the leaders. And probably Red Bull will also join them. Hopefully(':)')

Affirmative:     Another salient point would be...................it is impossible to make an objective assessment of drivers who compete in different cars. After all, if you put Sutil in a Ferrari, give him a month to get acquainted with the car, then you could at least compare him with..............only K&F.

Additionally, it certainly seems to be a trait of many fans, and some of the media, that they, through(I would guess) identification with the best drivers, continually trash the back end of the grid. Any driver even getting a chance to test for an F1 seat must have shown outstanding skill in some other series. If you consider these drivers to be, in most cases, unskilled; then it must follow that all the other drivers, in all the other racing categories, are really incompetent. Certainly anyone can see how absurd that reasoning is.

I realize that part of the fun involved in being a fan is pulling for favorites......but that doesn't, and shouldn't, require us to denigrate the other competitors........................................should it?

To me Nakajima is a paydriver. It's my vote. He wouldn't be there by his natural talent yet, at least. There is a good list before him.

I think this thread is all right. It is OK to rate F1 drivers, therefore it is OK to pick the lowest rated one. Having said that, I don't know how to compare drivers out of their teams. My guess is at least one of old generation F1 drivers will be proved to be simply too old in 2008. Naturally, I'm talking out of my ass here, cause how can I know?

I don't understand how you come to this conclusion.
From what I've seen I think he was the most exciting driver in GP2 last year, and Williams is not known for a preference of pay drivers....

I don't think there is anything "wrong" with rating drivers, in a general sense; as long as we realize it is a subjective exercise, and we don't slag the very talented drivers at the "dull end of the stick".

I'm not saying that he doesn't have talent. He is not a Deletraz.
But what exactaly he did in GP2? Spun and crashed several times for no reason specially under pressure. He is not consistent at all and to me he is in 2008 line up because of his money. But no JUST because of that. He have some potential. As I said, could be just too soon.

He has the potential to be one of the most exciting and unpredictable drivers on the grid this year. Sounds like a positive to me.

Nakajima is fast, 5th fastest race laptime in Brazil on his debut, to the people making negative judgements on him I say give the guy a chance.

I think the worst will be Fisichella.
For me he's a F1 burnout (that doesn't mean I hate him at all).
He well have the worst car in the grid and I have the feeling he won't be motivated and he'll be outclassed by Sutil.
Nakajima is easy to be picked but people think too much on that pit stop incident when they judge him IMO.

Force India could be a surprise this year. They have an extra $50M to spend and im not so sure about Super Aguri this year, they may struggle a bit. Do Super Aguri use the '07 Honda? Stick with the '06 Honda, or will the other teams allow them to use an '08 Honda?

Even though he drove some years ago Nissany (sp?) or whatever his name was, the Isreali guy was the worst driver of 2007(re read the supposition which is stoopiiiiiiid he will be slowest in 2008 as well), even though he didn't drive you could take his lap times, get the gap to the next slowest driver and divide it by the years he hasn't driven and he is still slower than any recent driver.

Can't back most of the above up but he was bad, and the current grid is pretty compentent the Rookie list over the last 2 years have been pretty impressive.

Since 2008 hasn't happened yet or even started any answer would be as without merit as the question itself :p

Nakajima 41 votes is absurd really. Wasn't he one of the 5 fastest drivers the only day that he raced, or did he compete in two races. I can't remember exactly.

Shouldn't the poll be about who will most likely underperform the most. I mean, for example Piquet should be listed because he could crack and underperform. I am not saying that he is or will the worst of the bunch though, not at all, and I would not vote him personally, he has a car to achieve some good results, but that would give the list a wider scope.

In reality, there are no best and worst drivers.
There are only drivers that make a lot or few mistakes.
Can you make a list of mistake prone drivers?
Almost everything else is the car.

Too early too call; DC, GF and RB are all over the hill, Nakajima unproven, Davidson so so, Sato scary, Trulli annoying (no pun intended). If I had to not sign one of them right now it would be Davidson by a smidgen.

Where is Piquet?

You must be either:
-blind
-Brazilian
-or you dont know he's driving in 2008 (which I can understand)

Or you must be Nelsinho himself attempting to divert attention away :D
