Found these comments on a finnish F1-forum, thanks to nickname J.Hunt for finding them. (Some of them might not be translated 100% correctly..)

Q: Montoya's success in NASCAR?
A: Im not even intrested about it.

Q: Do you excpect these tires to be suitable for your driving style?
A: I don't know and it doesn't even matter. The tires are what they are.

Q:What tips would you give for the first timers Nico and Scott?
A: I hope they know how to give me room.

Q: Do you think your pace is where it should be at the moment?
A: It doesn't make any difference how much we are losing to others at this point, the car is going to be totally different in Melbourne anyway. Let's just drive.

Q: Schumacher's role in Ferrari?
A: Well atleast he doesn't tell us drivers anything, and i sure don't need any of his tips.

Q: Montoya's point situation?
A: If he believes in it, let him believe so. I'm not interested about what's happening behind me.

Q: Montoya's tennis accident?
A: We don't call to eachother, and I don't care what he does.

Q: Austria 2002?
A: I have never seen it in replay and i don't give a damn what Ferrari did.

Q: About Alonso
A: I couldn't care less what that man is thinking.

Q: About race conditions
A: It's same to me if it rains or not.

Q: About 2006
A: I'm not interested about it yet, we will see what happens.

Q: Can you say something in Italian?
A: You can speak Italian by yourself.

Q: Ferrari's parties?
A: Ferrari's own parties are the nicest. I'm not sure what I'm doing there, maybe i will be the Santa Claus.

Q: About the Finnish independence party in the President's residence
A: Someone else can dance with her (Jenni).

Q: In the same party
A: Nah, ask that Leppilampi. He likes to speak!

Q: French Grand Prix 2002?
A: **** race.

Q: Your opinnion about Ron Dennis?
A: He's kinda weird sometimes, he likes to know everything about everyhthing. I don't care..

Q: What makes TAG Heuer so special?
A: It's quite ok.

Q: Kimi you missed the presentation by Pele!?
A: Yea.. I was having a ****.

Q: What kind of atmosphere you think there is in the Mclaren right now (2007 ;) )
A: Hell of a good propably!

Other statements:

- The constructors championship doesn't mean almost anyhting to me.
- I don't care what Jackie says. It's got nothing to do with me.
- Coulthard can speak what ever he likes. I'm not interested in his thoughts.
- I don't give a damn what Trulli says.
- I'm not that interested in Montoya's comments.
- The races aren't driven on paper.
- I don't care what people think about me. I'm not Michael Schumacher.

Some of them are quite funny to me

:D

I don't understand why Kimi gets away with these comments to be honest. If anyone else said stuff like this, everyone would be screaming about how arrogant and full of themselves they were.

Full of themselves? Some of those might be a little rude, but Kimi is surely the last driver on the grid to be full of himself.

I think its more that Kimi really isn't that interested in pandering to the media machine full-stop. He is interested in being a racing driver not a gossip columnist. I think he has a dry sense of humour which often comes out a little in his responses.

So he doesn't care for answering largely irrelevant, ill-advised, often repeated and unrelated questions. Where is the big deal in that?

Some people take things WAY to seriously.

I understand what you mean. But if these answers came from Hamilton or Alonso for example about each other, can you imagine what the reaction would be like? Kimi seems to get a free pass in this respect. Everyone went nuts about Hamilton comment about backmarkers and yet Kimi's comment about Nico and Scott is seen as dry humor.

Also people were giving Hamilton quite a flak for refusing to speak to the media at the start of the season, and yet they praise kimi for not pandering to the media. :

It should be pointed out much gets lost in translation here. EDIT - not to critisize the translator...it is common anything translated from Finnish to English sounds rude. Also, quotes don´t reveal context or situation.

Quoting such short statements from video interviews is often ill advised. First there is the lack of context, then there's the lack of facial expression, previous questions and atmosphere of the Grand Prix weekend. Spunout also correctly raises the issue of translation. Take for example the "****"-comment, when Kimi said that he had a big grin on his face and was probably making fun of the ITV reporter that came running down the grid in his usual manner.

However, don't let that stop you, some are pretty fun. It shows that being rude or being honest is often defined not by the statement alone but also by one's culture. :)

Maybe it's because he doesnt give a **** what the others are doing. He doesnt have any agenda, he doesnt get involved in anything except racing.

Compare that to all the little remarks which were flying between Lewis and Fernando for example.

Kimi may lack some international behaviour code and skills but is just being his own self. I like that.

Kimi is absolutely free of spin, straight up no chaser

Q: About Alonso
A: I couldn't care less what that man is thinking.

Imagine if Hamilton said that about Alonso. When Kimi says it he doesn't have any agenda. If Hamilton said that it would have been a personal dig at Alonso.

Cant you at least think of one reason why it would be different if Hamilton said that?

You missed the point despite you wrote it. Kimi doesnt make personal digs, he just doesn't care and lets the others do their things. For Hamilton that would be a dig likely. He cares what others do and has agendas for Alonso.

Besides, judging his presence, I often feel that he thinks one thing and says something else. Like in Brazil qualifying when he bloked Kimi. He made a dig at track, but appeared acting like an angel off it...

That's one thing I hate in him, also in Schumacher. They lack honesty.

That´s the point. We know Räikkönen and Alonso respect each other.

Hamilton and Alonso however...;)

This comment from Kimi would only mean something if it was a response about Massa or if Alonso was his team mate. If Kimi was asked about Webber or Button he would, more than likely, give exactly the same response. He doesn't care.

You guys are trying to make something out of nothing. I believe he gives minimal answers so people can't translate it into bullshit. But you guys are doing your best!

Schumacher on the other hand constantly refused to give his ex-team mate Brundle interviews because the German has a massive sense of humour failure.

i dont think its arrogance or being full of himself... it's just that the man does not care. period.

arrogant or full of himself = people like montoya, ralf and eddie irvine.

but kimi is just saying: leave me alone, go ask other people for quotes, i dont care, i dont want to care, and i dont want to become involved.

"What? I can't hear you" LOL!

I really can understand why he doesn't like to talk with stupid reporters and answer those questions.

To me as a Finn it is really easy to relate to his sense of humor. Maybe a bit dry and some may even find it rude but to me he's just a one funny bloke who just likes to drive.

Fair enough but he's certainly no Irvine or Villeneuve, at least they spoke their minds in a colourful way with more than a couple of words. Raikkonen might be all racer and not give a **** about anything else but its not entertaining in the slightest. I reckon no one should bother interviewing him, at least then he's happy and the media don't get frustrated.

Not everyone's personality is the same but you almost get the feeling Raikkonen acts this blunt and disinterested just for the sake of it, like he has some axe to grind. I mean, how can you not have a decent opinion on anything?

Another thing that baffles me is the comparison to James Hunt. I know Kimi used his name a while back for a snowmobile race but, as far as I can see, the comparison ends there. Raikkonen may be an outgoing party animal with his mates but no one else gets to see it and that's a shame. I for one love colourful characters in the paddock.

I think one of the things that people complained about is Kimi doesn't give in interviews. However when it came to 2007 with the Alonso Hamilton fiasco and then the comparisons between Massa and Kimi, with regards to Kimi's performance. I think that many people including myself respected Kimi no nonsense, just get on with it and drive attitude.

No bitching, moaning and excuses. Just driving and straight talking. WDC 2007 :smoking:

Although I prefer Massa out of the Ferrari camp, you can't but admire the monosyllabic man.

Because if anyone said to him to shut up, or to be different, he would tell you he does not care what you think, now be gone..

I like his attitude, i find it is far superior to the yes sir no sir of F1 these days.

What can I say? He has beautiful eyes.
I'm a bit like that too as you will see... I've been trying to make progress from my youth days. A bit disrespectful to be honest.
What's entertaining is that all these people that idolize the guy don't even realise just how much he despises them. He doesn't care about you. :) It's dry and it's plain obvious. I think he looks down on F1 and I can't blame him. Even the "James Hunt" biblical reference is some kind of a mock... Let's just hope they pay him enough for what he has to go through.
That's probably a "best of" anyway. But hey I don't want to spoil anything for anyone! We don't really know the guy! (?) Kimi, I'm a fan. The sport needs a monossyllabic hapless asshole.
That's some seriously fast dude.

Kimi's comments was posted in his biography thread already, and they were a bit different then those above:

Montoya´s success in Nascar - I don´t care.

How do you think these tyre´s will fit in your driving style? - I don´t know and it doesn´t matter. They are what they are.

What advices can you give to first timers, Nico Rosberg and Scott Speed? - I hope they yield well.

How the WDC is gonna change your life? - I have had a lot´s of **** onto me, now i think there´s gonna come even more.

What is Schumi´s Role on Ferrari? - He doesn´t come to tell us (drivers) anything. And i don´t need his advices.

Montoya´s point situation - If he believes in it, he can believe. I don´t care what happens behind me.

Did you see Pele giving trophy to Schumacher? - No I was having a ****.

What do you think what´s gonna happen in tomorrows race? - What do you think what´s gonna happen?

(Italian Reporter) Kimi can you say a few words Italy? - No. You can say if you want.

(Finnish tabloid reporter) What have you done on your holiday in Finland? - I think you can read it from your yesterdays magazine.

(Tag Heuers boss in Promotion ceremony) Kimi, what makes Tag Heuer so unique? - It´s ok.

What kind of place is the 5. grid to start a race? - It´s 5. grid.

What do you think how is the atmosphere in McLaren now? (In middle of a spygate) - I think its ****ing good.

Austria GP 2002: I haven´t watch it afterwards. I dont care what Ferrari did.

France GP 2002: **** race.

Hungary 2007: Boring

Montoya´s tennis accident: We dont call each others and i dont care what he does.

Weather conditions: I don´t care does it rain or not.

Alonso trying to play mind games with him in 2005: I could not care less what that guy thinks.

Season preview 2006: I don´t care what´s gonna happen. We´ll see.

On Ron Dennis: He is a controll freak. He want´s to know everything from everything. I don´t care for his doing.

Finnish independence party: Someone else can dance with her. (Jenni)

Ferrari party: These Ferrari´s own party are the nicest. I don´t know exatly what i´m gonna do there. Maybe i am Santa Claus.

Few out from context:

- The constructions title doesn´t mean quite much to me. (2005)
- I don´t care what Jackie says. It has nothing to do with me.
- Coulthard can speak what he want´s. I don´t care about his speeches.
- I really don´t care what Trulli says.
- Montoya´s speeches doesn´t care about me.
- Driving is the only thing what i love in F1.
- My life would have been so much easier with the guys in the 70´s. I was born in the wrong era.
- F1 circuit without reporters is a paradise.
- Others can sit in the simulators if they want. I´m here to drive.
- I don´t care what people thinks about me. I´m not Michael Schumacher.

One of my personal favorites:
Q: Was you relationship with Dennis very tense ?
Raikkonen: ''Oh, we've had some discussions. But no e-mail contact.'' :smoking:

Btw, I don't know if anyone has noticed but Kimi gives much more interviews these days, and gives his opinions more freely than before. Overall he is usually very funny but not everyone "catches" his often sarcastic sense of humour.

It seems to me that the Finnish sense of humour is not so much dry as arid, Hakkinen was not dissimilar and whenever they showed Finnish clips on those Clive James programmes the jokes tended to be laconic (and often cruel).

I, for one, very much enjoy his unique sense of humour. Nothing bothers me more than having to wait almost two hours for his display of expressionless genius, when he unleashes his metronomic speech, in the press conference. But when he consistently fails to aknowledge everyone around him you sometimes wonder about the human side of things and if he's worth all the praising. But hey, it's probably me and the guy is pretty cool, so rock'n'roll!

I think the primary difference is that Hamilton has quickly gained a reputation for being very media savvy whereas kimi is the exact opposite and doesnt want to talk and says what will make the interview end as quickly as possible. People know this and dont jump on his comments.

One thing about Kimi is that he has made no secret of the fact that he doesn't like doing interviews and dealing with the media and having to sugar coat every answer because you know that if you say something remotely controversial it will be thrown in your face and cause a rivalry.

I think that makes it different to if Alonso or Hamilton made these comments. Kimi is generally regarded as a straight up no nonsense driver, so when he makes these comments they don't have double meanings or anything like that, it's his straight up answer to the question and he says what he means, if the interviewer doesn't like it then tough. I think it's accepted that Kimi is one of the funnier drivers as well and he uses his dry humour quite a lot.

These are from 2001, from the first interview with Kimi as an official F1 driver, When Sauber launched their new car and driver:

Kimi, who is your biggest idol? -I don´t have any.

What kind of relationship you have with Peter Sauber? -His my boss.

Is he like a father or more like a godfather to you? -His my boss.

Many driver has a special bandage with their helmet. How important it is to you? -It covers my head.

Do you have any special rituals with your helmet, like wipe the visor at the last second? -I wipe it, so i could see better.

How does the F1 car feels after formula renault when there is 4 times more horsepower?

-It´s very cool and different! Steering response is much better and you can brake so late but of course there is a lot to learn. No, i´m not scared. If you are scared, you should do something else. Everything is ok as long it is you who lead the car and not the opposite.

What kind of pressure those experts commets will hit you that you did get the F1 superlicence too early and that you are a risk?

-No pressure at all. Everyone has a right to say their opinion and i cannot effect on that. I just drive.

Notice that as soon as he is asked a reasonably pertinent question he responds with a reasonably pertinent answer :)

Imagine if Hamilton said that about Alonso. When Kimi says it he doesn't have any agenda. If Hamilton said that it would have been a personal dig at Alonso.

You're missing the point. Or should I say you're missing the "context". It's ok for Kimi to say stuff like this because this is what he is like. It's his personality, he's a genuine guy who simply doesn't care about other people's opinions.

If the interview had ended here, it'd be one of the best interviews ever. Mega uber informative.

And the Alonso comment was a response to him when Fernando tried to play mind games with him in 2005.
