Trolls

Perhaps it'd be better if the forum had a filter (similar to a swear filter used in chat rooms and other forums) that changes the word "troll" to "person that disagrees with me".
"You are a person that disagrees with me".
But then it would look silly wouldn't it?;)
That is all.

Does not compute
"An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion."
I would suggest that a highly experimental 'circumstantial filter' is put in place, that replaces the word "troll" with "I can see you have a logical argument, which I cannot argue against".
Because there are a lot of posters that do, on the face of it, disagree. But the fact that they are being purposely obtuse and/or antagonistic shouldn't be an excuse for them to continue doing what they are doing.
But I guess that would all make me a troll in your world ;)

Troller is looking for a response...ANY response, and he will chum the waters with complaints, insults, compliments, and inflammatory tidbits hoping that someone...ANYONE, will take the bait. Generally quite harmless - practices a form of catch and release. Nonetheless, he can upset the delicate ecology of a discussion forum. Once a forum becomes aware of his presence, however, all feeding activity ceases and Troller must move on to more promising waters.

These type of trolls are the true essence of the word, but are very rare on this forum. Maybe 20%? Most of the time here, the word gets thrown around during heated discussions about drivers (who they love or hate) when two or more people battle to convince each other that they are right and the other is wrong.Originally posted by metz
The site below, the authority on the subject, defines a Troller as follows:

Using a filter wouldn't work on another site, but here it would work nicely.
How about this instead. Replace "troll" with "You've raised some points, I can't think of a decent rebuttal, so instead I'll pull my troll card, because obviously you don't mean the things you've said and have said them intentionally to irritate me".
