autosport has an article about Stoddart considering a return to F1 (inluding a bid he considered for Super Aguri), despite him finding everything still wrong with the sport.
Now, F1 is far from perfect (the fact that one old greedy bastard owns the damn thing is wrong in itself.....it should be, like any sport of substance, independent, like FIFA for football, ATP for tennis, etc.), but I must confess, I rather have F1's imprefections than stoddart around again. In the many years I followed F1, I can't recall a more annyoing, whiny team owner/manager ever. Can he pretty please stay over to the US and annoy the living crap out of IRL fans for another few years rather than making a come back???
Am I the only one that finds his approach to otherwise sensible matters totally annyoing???

Yep, spent weeks complaining that he couldn't assemble 2005 compliant cars but, after exhausting all avenues by the end of Friday on the race weekend in Melbourne, managed to do exactly that -- overnight in the pit garage. Probably cost him more in legal fees challenging his need to comply than it cost to actually make the cars compliant.

It's F1, for Pete's sake. Can you see VJ crying because Force India is at the back? no, he works on spending his resources intelligently. personally i think he made it all a bit more exciting to watch and did his best to chage the sport for what he thought was better... note i didn't say better, just what he thought was better.

Whether you like him or not, he has made a bigger contribution to F1 than you would ever be willing to do. At least he was willing to stump up his own money and have a go. I'd rather have someone like him anyday rather than a whiney forumer.

Personally I like Stoddard; and if people stopped to listen to what he really had to say, they would find that he was extremely canny and knowledgeable, even if he was in the end no match for Il Principe.

I'd quite like to see Stoddart back in F1 in some capacity - as a team owner or perhaps even a future FIA president!*

He's not had a team in the IRL, Minardi USA were in Champ Car and had a very successful season.I'd rather Stoddart than Mosley any day of the week.

IMO Stoddart made a lot of noises because he wasn't able to shell out enough money to bring Minardi forward. I do like people like Stoddart who say how they see it, with the huge exception, I prefer it when they know when to shut up and spend efforts which bring the team forward on their own merit.
Do you believe for a second that Ron Dennis would have brought McLaren to were they are today (as a company) with talking like Stoddart did? I'm not a fan of Ron Dennis either, but I clearly see (and can appreciate) why McLaren has become a top team, and Stoddart finally sold up Minardi.
And if that is not enough, see at Stoddarts recent pullout of his team (at least for this year) from the IRL Champ Car merger. Think about it. There he even has the chance to shape the future of the reunited series, and what does he do, he pulls out because his team (understandably) can't be competitive this year. But how do you think his team will fare, after some time off? Better than it would be this year? Don't think so. And if he isn't prepared to help shape the future of North American Open Wheel Car Racing, what were his past suggestions in F1 all about?

It's nowhere near as simple as that. The person you should be condemning is Kevin Kalkhoven who condemned a lot of people to joblessness because he threw a hissy fit over something really silly.
Stoddart signed up for champ car not for the IRL, if he wanted to be there he would have signed up for there.

The Champ Car he signed up for hasn't disappeared. It's merged and everyone else involved in it is trying their hardest to make this work for the sole reason that they love their sport. Some have failed, but only one man is bailing out by choice in spite of having the money to keep his team going.
It's just so very typical of him. He doesn't get his way so he makes a big noise and leaves everyone else to clean up after him.
