When you went into the grass at 1:13 I didn't see any extra understeer that you'd expect to see when steering and going from a high-grip track surface to a low-grip grass surface.
When you righted yourself and then accelerated ON THE GRASS the acceleration looked the same as the acceleration after the previous corner at 1:09 when you were ON THE TRACK...
That video makes it appear there is no loss of grip on the grass...
Besides, that 180 spin before turn 1 just looked like an arcade game... (that the tires have too much grip, as appeared before from the grass example, so when the tires were pointing in the direction the car was going, it gripped and was now going perfectly backwards... Possible, but just how often have you seen F1 drivers do these perfect 180s and then be going backwards?)
I don't think the physics have to be funny for this to happen, just that the grip level of the tires is ridiculously high...
Undoubtedly the PS3 has the power for a good sim, so maybe I was expecting too much out of a $600 box...
(GT3/4 didn't seem to have the issues I saw in this video...)

The Ferrari's look like ass, why is there a red rear wing? But still overall i think it will be a ok game. But im still hoping that EA will get the license back and bring it over to the PC again.

Problem is I never made a comment about how I perceive the slickness of the track in that video...
(although your not understanding my point may explain your driving in that video...?)
Anyhow, I don't care, I don't plan to buy a PS3, and I certainly don't plan on buying this game...
But what I saw seems a waste assuming the possibilities of the PS3...

otherwise it looks like it has potential...I just hope it doesn't play like a crappy arcady console game

Well, it is hard to get a grasp of the overall physics of the game when the driver isn't taking the correct lines, no? You can't grasp too well grip of tires and slickness of track when that's going on...
But yes, I did assume in your replies that you would use the words "track" and "grass" correctly at the right part...
But I stand by what I said: with the driving, and what I saw when you went into the grass, something doesn't look right...
I didn't perceive any SLIDING in the grass, either by extra oversteer when you entered, or by less ability to accelerate whilst on the grass...
It looked like an arcade racer to me... And, as I said, I was hoping for more...
(although vids I saw long ago of crash footage supposedly in-game already looked unimpressive anyway... silly physics...)

He's also completely off the power as he gets on to said grass. The power goes on as he comes off and you can also hear the TC kick in as the rear tyres spool up on grass.
Looks fine to me, but what do I know? I only drive the real ones . . . .
I certainly wouldn't presume to slam an entire physic's engine based on less than two seconds worth of footage with who knows what driver aids turned on.
Bit petty aren't you?

Tobacco livery = white part in engine cover with red stripes and white rear wing with red stripes.
So this is not very accurate by Sony. They did a whole white engine cover and a red rear wing. Which is not correct.
edit: just spotted the 3th error on the Ferrari. Sony used all red bargeboards while Ferrari uses white ones with a red and green stripe. Is this corrected in the demo/full version or are these faults or just a rights issue?

the correct White Rear Wing with Red stripes
the correct white stripes on the monocoque
the correct white stripes on the engine cover
in this instance : not realistic enough
I'd REALLY PREFER:
cockpit mirrors in the Ferrari [although correctly placed W I D E on the body], you can't see them when driving from the cockpit
in this instance : too realistic

Thanks for making my point...
You'd prefer to have an arcadey game with the infinite proper Ferrari details rather than a game with the correct physics and maybe a little less Crayola?
Your choice. I think you know where I stand.
BTW, before you slap me again of poorly thinking in such a juvenile gratuitous way, also consider the economics of producing these(which you may not be aware).
Yes, the perfect thing would be for the game to be perfect in all aspects but considering the market and the sales numbers some games bring back, they don't bother to make them perfect...with all the Ferrari redness.

Which is why I play GP4 as I can have a high level of realism and people modding the game who expect perfection which is why the mods have the liverys as close to what they can. I beleive that the only problem with the GP4 2006 mod is that it has the 2005 Ferrari with the chin wing, which is only because the mod was made before anyone had done a render of the 2006 one. The problem is going to be solved with the last reincarnation of it though

CF you are absolutely right however the white bits (apart from the front wing) are all tobacco related spaces - the car appears exactly how Ferrari want it to ;)

Im sorry for sounding a bit naggy but if you want to put out a good F1 game you need to at least get the car livery's and shape's etc right.
I mean how can you buy a F1 license for a huge amount of money and then get the livery wrong?

One step forward, two steps back.
F1C won't have Force Feedback on Steering Wheels, according to Gamespot.
"No force feedback unfortunately. At least that's what one of the producers at Sony told me."
Gran Turismo series will have FFB [Phil Harrsison believes Polyphony will be 'keen to have it' (FFB) ]
but F1 WON'T
there goes the "Hardcore Sim" market, and those "Simmers" that were willing to
give the "Next Gen" a chance ..... no chance in the world they'll consider a "game" without FFB.
Sony claims F1 will be "the most realistic racing experience to date", yet this "Next Gen" version doesn't have the FFB that the "Old Gen PS2 has
F1 fans are always getting the short end of the stick with this exclusive SONY / F1 agreement.

Has the hardcore market changed a lot? I remember the simmers didnt use ffb, regarding it as a cheap toy and not realistic at all.. is that no longer true?

Some screenies & a movie.
we're checking for the Safety Car.
Sadly, no FFB .. this is a BIG issue, IMHO. Hopefully we'll convince the studio that makes it to implement FFB by March.
No Online mode in Japan. More to come ...
DJmizuhara:I just got F1 Championship Edition 1 day early!
The Japanese version doesn't have online play much like MotorStorm and it only supports 480i, 480P and 720P. The main menu is all in English although when you enter Career mode isn't very import friendly as it's all in Japanese. The in race commentary is also in Japanese but your pit-crew speaks in English.
The tips and Trivia during the loading screens are also in Japanese.
Plays really well though...Check out the video I posted on gametrailers.

If it's true that the Safety Car has been scrapped & the AI still hit you from behind, and there's no Force Feedback like the PS2 version, then I'd have to say this is good news.

Ferrari decides how their livery looks like in the game.
The Ferrari's cockpit view is lacking the rear view mirrors because of the uniquely wide positioning of the 248-F1's mirrors compared to the other F1 cars.

In both videos linked, I've seen pretty solid contact without any damage to show for it. In the second video, it looked as if the CPU's car might have sustained damage, but the user's seem unscathed.
I did notice that damage was indicated on the car model in the bottom left, but did not see any graphical representation of it on the actual cars.

Yes there is. You can tinker with the options quite a lot. A less experienced player can tweak a few options and enjoy a more arcade-style experience, where a few bumps won’t end the race.

Neat, thanks for the reply.
The game looks very good. And the fact that PS3 is not limited by region restrictions is very nice.
I've missed out on quite a few PS2 world motor sport games as a result of them not being released in America, which was bothersome.
I don't really have set plans either way regarding buying a next gen console, but this game makes getting a PS3 very tempting.

and the US version apears not to have the PSP Mirror Feature, while the UK version does have it.
How could the Mirrors appear in UK, but not in US version ? I doubt that any developer could do that.
20 Lap Maximum Online Races ? That seems to eliminate Pitstops.
And, there goes your "Run the Full Championship Online" that Graeme spoke of ....
And, Online was said to Include:
will we have damage ? Yes
pit stops ? Yes
fuel use ? Yes
Qualy ? Yes
I certainly hope these rumours are false.
