From your photographs...

The one labelled 'Lotus 20' is in BP Bend at Oran Park.

The Brabham photo (labelled '1964) has Charlie Smith in his Elfin following, then Alan Felton. I think. I could be wrong on either or both counts, but most likely that's who they are. It's at Dunlop Corner at Catalina Park, directly below where the Katoomba Auto Chef used to be.

'1964 2' is again at Oran Park. Probably at speed down the main straight, obviously taken on a private practice day or something like that.

Do you have any idea when that cutting was taken from the newspaper? Racing motorcycles in the new subdivision at 'Florida Gardens' sounds like something that would have happened in the late fifties, maybe as late as 1961 or 1962, no later than that, surely? There were hillclimbs held in suburban streets in that area in the late fifties.

The views of the cars on trailers are clearly in Europe... gratifying to see the 404 in one shot, that's a fairly early 404 too. But what is that car behind the Morris 1100 in the other shot?

Thanks for showing us... let's see if we get some more info for you...

Okay, Roger, I can identify these too...

The one with the inscription about the NSW Championship (what rubbish!) is entering Craven A Corner at Catalina Park.

The one you've entitled GP 1964 is also at Catalina Park exiting the 'Tunnel of Love'.

The Lotus 20 with the dam in the background is again Oran Park, BP Bend, I can't identify the other cars.

Two Warwick Farm pictures: The start appears to be Doug Chivas in the D-type Jag obscuring the car that's the focus of your attention, which appears in the other photo on its own down the start/finish straight at Warwick Farm.

I don't know who is in the second car at Avus, but that would be readily answered by some of the European experts on this forum.

Where did you get the photos, Roger?

And can you name all the drivers who raced at Catalina Park and went on to race in European F3?

Why don't we like to hear about Larry?

Indeed, he is the one I thought of. But Dave Walker was another to make it to F1.

Mountain Man, when did Larry race at Catalina?

Larry raced at Catalina in about 72 in rallycross. It was a one off drive in the HDT Beast. (it was Larry that I was thinking of in the other post)
So now I am up to four that raced F1 and Catalina. :p Dave Walker, Larry Perkins and ??

Stretch the truth a little and you get Alex Macarthur...

Actually, you've rephrased that. 'Went on to race in F1' was the opening gambit, now it's 'raced F1 and Catalina'!

Talk about moving the goalposts!

Oh, yeah, you were right about Larry... rallycross in the HDT supercharged Torana. Which wasn't called 'the beast'. But it was a beast. Of this episode, Gus Staunton said, "I like Larry. Peter is quick and Larry is quick, but Peter doesn't make mistakes and Larry does!"

We will set the goalposts at World Championship F1.

Didn't Larry tip the Torana on its lid?

No, but I seem to recall that he got stuck in the mud or something...

Warwick Brown never raced at Catalina.

Dave Walker, Larry Perkins, Chris Amon and ? (thanks David!)
We can't count Arnold Glass but he should get an honourable mention. :p

Oh, yeah... at the end of the Staunton quote, he added, "He's human."

Still wondering about this person who drove in F1... and was it after they raced at Catalina or not?

That's fine, yeah, I think he raced at Catalina in a D-type too...

And finished up against the fence there in his last appearance, a victim of a backmarker not seeing Cusack coming through after Geoghegan.
