I have noticed over a perid of years that a lot of the /british sportscars of the 50s especialy at Le mans sported what looked like RAF roundels on the side of the car
I have certainly seenthem on /aston martinsandlotus,s of that period
Any one know Why?

So it appears that the roundels were not some patriotic symbol that british teams used ,but a device incorporated by the ACO to indicate participation in one of their handicap prizes ,where maximum points can only be scored if the car is painted blue
