Can anyone tell me where I can find pictures of all sides of or a complete list of the names used on the Porsche Pink Pig 917?

Italian artist Bruno Betti did one of his famous drawings showing the pig from the front, from behind and the left hand side as well as looking through its "skin". It was published in German magazine "Auto Zeitung" in 1975.

Unfortunately my scanner isn't big enough to cover it in whole. Maybe someone else can dig it out and show it here.

My knowledge of the German language may not be perfect, but good enough to suggest that there is a typo on your list. On the back of the car, and repeated on the sticker sheet (!) you list Ripple. This is not a German word, I think. I really think that it should be Rippe (meaning Rib, and without the L).

That is very right indeed - it should read Rippe without L. Someone at Starter must have slipped his dictionary...but he also must have some admirers : I have bought a 1/43 Pink Pig model shortly ago at a toy swap meet, very well done but cheap at 7 Euros. There was no box, but on the bottom it says DeA by HIGH SPEED-Special Edition and guess what - the same Ripple spelling error on the bodywork ! :rotfl:

It is not uncommon to find spelling mistakes on decals for (especially older) kits. These decals were often made by an outside company with only knowledge about making decals, and none on racing. Especially driver names suffered this.

The 1/12 kit is made by Modellismo Leonardo from Firenze/Florence Italy, or Total Model as they call themselves today.

we should compare historic pics with the new ones (restored car)...
Ripple can be the local "schwäbisch" (for the Stuttgart area) slang for Rippe...
I'll try to find historic shot's of the back...

Shame me, coming from southern Germany myself and not thinking about local tongue.... :cry:

I checked in the Peter Morgan book PORSCHE 917 - The winning formula : on pg 119 there is a picture, where you can clearly see RIPPLE !

Likewise, on Page 127 of the book "Porsche in Le Mans" is a picture of the Pink Pig with the tail section raised that clearly shows "Ripple".

indeed the big bertha nickname is also applicable.
I have a 1:18 model of his car, and under the bonnet, you will find the writing: "rosa" (pink) and "Berta"

Well, there was Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney's dragsters. I believe there was also a pink March GTP that raced in the IMSA series.

There are several pink cars racing here in Australia, sponsored by Donut King, mostly in production car racing.

Certainly a way of getting attention.

Yes (March 83C), as well as his first Indy 500 ride (84C).

More recently (the last 3 seasons), Chip Ganassi Racing has made some of its Target-sponsored rides in IRL and Nextel Cup pink during September to promote breast cancer awareness.

At Le Mans 1991 there was a Spice sponsored by the Wall Street Journal, painted in the paper color (light pink) of this newspaper Adams/R. Jones/Donovan). Also a Spice was driven by ladies team Wilson/Lyn St. James/Muller sponsored by Daihen/Temporary.

I believe the 1991 Le Mans Spice was sponsored by the London Financial Times, last I checked the Wall Street Journal was still a boring black and white.

Donna Mae Mims had a bunch of pink cars:
Sprite, MGB, Corvair, Corvette, Triumph TR3...

She was Don Yenkos admin at Yenko Chevy in Canonsburg, PA, and a racer in her own right.
I met her at the Yenko 40th reunion event the summer of '06. This is her at that event:

She is about 5'0" and is one of the funniest speakers I have ever had the pleasure to hear!
Unfortunately the flash muted some of her 'pinkness'. She was dressed head to foot in pink!

Ray Allen's Pink Stamps F5000 McLaren M10B - fantastic :up:

Pictured on the front cover of Autosport early 1971 - spinning, whilst Mike Hailwood's works Surtees continued on to victory.

In the early 70's

There was an Pink Austin Healey Sprite that I raced against raced at Waneroo in Western Australia which was PINK and sponsored by the Pink pages Driven by Gordon Mitchell
HIs tow car was also pink which was a Simca Aronde Station Wagon
I am sure this combination of Race car and Tow car visited the east coast of Australia at least once

The Pink Pages become what is the Yellow pages now

It did not matter what colour Gordons cars where they went very quick

I wish I had Colour photos

A picture I took of Donna Mae Mims' Yenko Stinger at Mid Ohio around 1965 or 1966. The shocking pink Gabriel Shocker. Too bad it wasn't restored in these colors, definitely unique. Note the snaps around the windows for towing covers and the Gulf Oil sticker on the trailer. Lots of Gulf tie-in in Western Pennsylvania at the time.

At LeMans in 1981, the Denver sponsored Porsche 934 was Pink.

Almost forgot, from the modern era a Pink Porsche GT3 ran in the Phoenix ALMS race in 2004 to promote the Disney-Pixar movie 'Cars'. The car was christened 'Pink Sally' after the Porsche named Sally in the movie.
