In the latter years the cars got various modifications (e.g. a 917/936 longtail, different airboxes etc.) Can anyone give me some more infos about these cars?
Where was this picture taken? I think it's from 1975, but from which race?

Does anybody have photos of Joest's 908/03 in 1972 (especially at Interlagos 500 kms, where Joest won the race) ?

Joest won the race easily !
I remember that brazilian TV commentators said the engine used ethanol. Can anyone confirm this ?

Hi,
I was there !
The only car that could beat him was Muller's Ferrari 512M.
The other good cars were the 908/02 from the Brazilian Hollywood (a cigarette brand, latter sponsored Alex Dias Ribeiro in F1) Team, very well prepared and very well driven by Luiz Pereira Bueno (he took part in two Brazilan F1 GPs, 1972 and 1973, the first a non-championship race) and the Argentinian Berta SP (stopped after 1,5 laps ...).
The race was in 1972.
Many years after that, in 1999, I met Paul Blancpain, a Swiss driver who won the 2L category in that race. He used to be Siffert's manager or something like that and decided to try his chance after Siffert died.
In 1972 he came to Brasil for the first time, apparently he liked the country as he decided to live here. He owned a restaurant, than a hotel.
He told me that he came with Joest and they arrived well before the race, so they had the opportunity to prepare a fast refuel system, similar to what Ferrari was using that year in SP.
By doing that, they lost much less time in the pits than the others.
Also, the 908/03 was much less "thirsty" than the 512M.
So, I do not believe in the ethanol story. And I do not think that a motor built to use petrol would accept ethanol that easy.
Would it be worth to modify the motor just for this race ?
Group 7, thanks for the photo !
