In his book "Un Siecle de Grands Pilotes Francaise 1895-1995" Maurice Louche gave some good statistic about the drivers success and mentioned the title Champion de France (CdF). Some year it was given overall some years for a joint F1/F2.
Is there any knowledge obout the pointsystem and rules. In some years the title seems to be awarded.

Monsieur Langlois' proposed 1939 European Championship scoring system was said at the time to be based on the existing French Championship scoring method. :)

Is there any reason why Jean Alesi is not 'champion' in 1992?

Hi,
I don't know about ALesi. however I am collecting data about the three prewar French championships in order to write some articles about this subjzect for the 8w.forix.com website.
In 1937, which was the year of the first French championship, the point system was as follows:
1° 10pts
2° 8 pts
3° 6 pts
4° 4 pts
5° 2pts
other starters: 0.5 pt
nevertheless, it seems it was only valid for 1937. In 1939, it was totally different. And, as for, 1938, I hope I will have the precise point system before the end of this month.
Regards,
Rémi

Thanks Remy.
Were the points given for the position or for first French , second french driver and so on ?
Example
French driver was third behind two Italian drivers. Did he get 6 points or ten for being the best French driver?

It depended on the position of the French driver and not on being the first French driver.
example: there were 3 French drivers in the GP de Picardie. Dreyfus finished 2nd and consequently scored 8 points. The two other French drivers only scored 0,5 pt (they did not finish in the first five positions).
