Is any one able to clarify whether this F3 race at Nogaro on August 15/16 1964 was held as an International status race or just a French " clubby" ??

Many thanks for the information. Sadly it is the answer which I expected, not the one I wanted.

What do you need to know? At that time no F3 race had full international status,as graded drivers were banned from F3 as F.Junior, and the only difference between a full international and a National Open was that graded drivers from other than the host country were banned from the latter. Later they were renamed International Open & International.
They were not 'clubbys'they were on the international calendar like the F1 race at Crystal Palace which I went to in May 1961.

a precision : the "clubby " race in the sense english know them in their country, rarely wld apply to events in France in the sixties .Club races were far less regular in France than in England, and you could be assured everytime there was an event such a F 3 race , it wld count for a national championship .Club races in france, were limited mainly to Hill climbs in the sixties.

Only by comparing the events calendar published in AUTOSPORT weekly and those published in SPORT AUTO french mag, you could see how U.K was and still is far more involved in Club races auto racing .

as a french, I never forget there is no such motor racing culture in France as it is common in U.K.
In U.K you had many, even if not very well known by foreigners, clubs track that wld allow Club races .
In France, YOU COULD 'NT COUNT ON LE MANS ,ROUEN, REIMS, CLERMONT FERRAND , PAU, THAT WEREN 't PERMANENT TRACKS .And they were used once a year (except Clermont Ferrand twice or three) for
motor racing events

On a territory quite twice the surface of England , only 4 TRACKS WERE PERMANENT ONES IN THE SIXTIES :

Monthléry
Nogaro
Albi
Magny Cours
(Bugatti only arrived in 1967)

... not a good situation for Auto Clubs, that if they had the will to organise club races, wld rather look in the Aerodrome direction .And there too (Dijon, Dax , Istres )autorisations weren 't easy to obtain .

I profit to insist on that point : it is a french particularism :rotfl: than quite 90 % of the main Motor Racing International events WEREN 'T ORGANISED ON PERMANENT TRACKS IN THE SIXTIES !
