Hi to you all, I came across this site while trying to research to results of the above race. The problem I have is trying to verify the 4th place car of Masten Gregory which is shown on at least 2 diferent results lists as Porsche 908/02 no.11. However I have 2 different and respected model manufacturers representing this car as no. 36. : I have looked through my many reference books and exhausted my search on the net, but as yet I have not been able find one scrap of info on the real car.

Both models are in white/black with BP sponsorship, Gregory's co driver in this race was Richard Brostrom and there are rumours of his disqualification and of the original race car being wrecked on its trailer on the way to the event, can any of you help?

Regards Lobby.

According to the following, besides the 1000 k race in August, 1969, there was another race at Zeltweg in July, 1969. Apparently Gregory and Brostrom were disqualified in this race. Maybe this was car no. 36?

Thanks for that info Vince this may explain it, but I wish I could just see one picture of the real car. It seems that apart from the 2 models, all images of a white, BP sponsored 908, #36 have been erased!

Just to throw a bit more confusion into the pot, on the orginal entry list to the 1000k's, #11 is also shown on an Alpine Renault A220 to have been driven by Andre de Cortanze, but did not race. I did not think that after an entrant had been alocated a number it could then be given to another car?

At the inaugural race at Österreichring Gregory drove Broström's 908 and was leading when the car broke down on the last lap. Broström, who drove his 910, then pushed Gregory down to the finish. Both cars were disqualified. Gregory had race number 36.
Two weeks later they shared a 908/02 in the 1000km race - number 11. They finished fourth.

I don't remember the exact date right now, but I think it was between race one and two that the mechanics lost the trailer with the first 908 on the Autobahn.

Anyway, at the first race Broström drove a white car with a blue and yellow band (not green and yellow as on one scale model). The second car Broström bought from the Austrian team and it was white with red bands over the fenders.

There's a pic of car #11 in the new Fodisch book on the 917 (P158) It shows the car to look identical to the 908-1 spiders run in the familiar Salzburg livery. White with red the full length of each of the top flanks.

The 908-2L long-tailed "sole" or "flounder" spider, previously raced by Siffert & Redman (white & green #20) at Le Mans, re-appeared in Salzburg colours #5 at the Zeltweg 1000k. Perhaps their old 908-1 was sold on to Bostrom ?

Broström's first car was 908/02-010. When that was wrecked on the Autobahn, he bought Salzburg's 908/02-001.

He raced with the Salzburg colours for a couple of races (Österreichring and Karlskoga) and then had it repainted in all white.

Just to point out the #11 car at the Zeltweg 1000k was an original spider, not the re-bodied Sole or Flounder type. It looked identical to the Nurburgring winner

Pedro Rodriguez raced the Brostrom 908 "flunder" in the 200 Miles race at the Norisring in 1970.

Yep! Gregory, Wisell, Rodriguez and Peterson drove the car during 1970, by then with a new Flounder-body.
