Does anyone have any colour details - or preferably a photo or two - of 2 particular Formula 2 cars from 1967-70? The first is the Lotus 48 sponsored by Herts and Essex Aero Club and campaigned by Jackie Oliver in 1967-8. Secondly, the (I believe) John Coombs Brabham, as driven by Jackie Stewart at Thruxton on August Bank Holiday 1970?

I always imagined that the Herts and Essex Aero Club Lotus was painted in the works colours of green with a yellow stripe, widening around the nose.

BT30-17 photographed at Rouen here, http://www.oldracing...es/brabham/bt30 but it may not give you all the detail you are looking for.

Two colors pics of the BT30 of John Coombs as drived by Stewart at Thruxton in 70.
The pics come from l'Automobile magazine #288 of Mai 70

The blue on those pictures from l'Automobile is too dark: Gerard's picture at ORC shows the correct colour.

Jack Brabham in very strange helmet - without stripe!

This looks like the same helmet he wore at Monaco 5 weeks later, by which time the stripe was added.

I wonder if Pau was the first time he wore it.

He tried it at the Race of Champions.

Great photo, brings back memories of the "summer of love" and a very sunny August Bank Holiday Monday F2 meeting at Brands with both graded (stars) and ungraded drivers racing, a great summers day out. Good to see the colours of Herts & Essex Aero Club again
