A friend and I have a personal, non-commercial project to acquire a picture of every car that raced at Le Mans. We're almost there, with the exception of a few cars from 1924. Does anyone have any period pictures of the following :

In France in the differents forums where I go, you can put a pic, but you must give the name of the photograph or in defect the name of the book where to come from the pic.

Corre La licorne no. 42:
drivers: Albert Colomb and Waldemar Lestienne
engine: SCAP 1.5L
laps: 3

drivers: Charles Drouin and Louis Balart
engine: SCAP 1.5L
laps: 58

3 cars W16/W4 torpedos with a 67*105 1500cc W15-type SCAP engine. Collomb-Lestienne retired on lap 3, Paul-Vallon on lap 5 and Drouin-Valard on lap 58.


In 1924, they came back with three cars using a SCAP engine about 1481 cc. All th three cars got problem with their engines.
A few week later they came to Spa for the 24 hours.
The cars were fixed with a SCAP engine same size as the Ballot one 70x105 1393cc

Yes the "2004 annual" ie ACO own all the copyrights.... these pics are own by ACO and was found in the basement of the "Grande Tribune"...

When C.Moity and JM Tesseidre made the "1923-1992" book, they did not find these pics in the ACO archives, just because they were hide by other files. Bruno Vandestick found them just before the preliminary test day of 2004 race. And then, Jean-Marc and I spent a couple hour to identify these cars and some others in a big lot of 1924-1927 pics....

Haine Kaine have no right to scan and publish on any website these pictures...

he got it from the "1923-1992" 2 opus book...... with nearly all pics of cars seen at Le Mans, except some from the twenties...

and then he made a joke with this picture

I understand that SCAP engines around that size were used for other cars than SCAP. Stuart Middlehurst had two complete SCAPs and spares which included two engines. One loose engine which came with purchase of the second car, he was able to recognise by an external oil line modification as the engine of a SCAP that he owned before the War. The other disassembled engine was very slightly larger displacement, and it was single OHC. The engines of the SCAP cars were pushrod OHV. My recollection is that the bottom end was not particularly robust, and may likely have been two main bearing crank. It is quite a long while ago to remember details of something that had only passing interest for me. I am fairly sure the first car is owned by Stuart's daughter and her husband. The other was restored as a joint project by friends of Stuart, father and son, around 25 years ago; and used for local VSCC events.

The difference is that YOU scan AND IT IS PROHIBITED ! I never SCAN ! I found picture on Internet and i re-post it .... That's the main difference !

Every forum had their laws according how are their own interpretation of their national law !

On the french forum : i repost pics wich are allready on internet... BUT i never scan myself any book or pic, or only with authorization (Haine Kaine did not have any from the ACO about 1924 pics, that is fun just because he is a "policeman" for a french forum ). Because i respect writers...and i know that they do not appreciate to be spoiled.

Or i post my owns pics and then i apply the rule i explain above.... You know that pics are always low quality, so it is difficult to put it in a book or trying to make money with it...

If it is FREE somewhere on internet, why it is not FREE elsewhere on internet.... I did that on french forum like Autodiva... On TNF, they have their rules...

Remember that the owners of a forum can be sued for what it displays whether they are directly responsible for the content or not.

If someone felt so inclined it might be worth their while to take legal action against organisations like Haymarket/Autosport as they have assets that could meet the damages. Hence Autosport have to be more cautious in their policies than an individual who is the proverbial "man of straw".

You banned me on Motorlegend because you protect some people who insult me in PM ! Should i remind the message i receive to all other people ? .... So Motorlegend is not anymore a friendly place, and i am happy to be out of this piece of ****....

Question concerning the Corre/Corre-La Licorne driver Collomb:

- Joseph Collomb was a well-known bicycle star in the 1890s, born in Lyon. Later he was Mors agent in Lyon, and drove Mors, Rochet-Schneider and Pilain cars up to the Mont Ventoux, the Limonest, in sprints between Arles and Salon, etc... In 1907 he built his "Orthoptère", a flying machine ressembling an insect. He committed suicide in February 1908.

- Another Collomb was a motorcycle rider between 1903 and -05. He was entered in the 1906 GP de l'ACF as mechanic for Barriaux on the Vulpès which did not start. Later he drove for Corre in the Coupe des Voiturettes.

- In more recent books about the 24 h du Mans, we can find an Albert Colomb (only one "l") who drove for Corre-La Licorne in the 1920s.

Had Joseph Collomb nothing to do with Corre/Corre-La Licorne?

Not so common, but according to Internet, 3431 people wear that name nowadays in France ! i am not sur that they all like motorsport !
