I think that at that time Suzuki always loaned Mick a "factory bike" for the NW200 and TT..

Yes i do, he was fairly capable much to everyone's surprise and they hung out the flag more than once to get him to stop. Interesting concept when you look back on it. Its only recently that the F1 guys are again taking an interest in bikes. I have enjoyed reading about Schu's exploits in the KTM? cup. Qualified 3rd and 24 th into the first corner only to be able to repass!!!! other competitors.

Back to Birmingham on the same plane an hour or so later. Immediately picked up by customs in the UK, who took my cheese away, poked & prodded it. and yes Stu, you're right Scheckter World Cup. If you remember he wobbled around on someones GP bike. He was F1 WC the year previous...but a Bike racer, naaah don't think so  I also remember at that meeting every rider occupying a garage was given a huge basket of fresh fruit. No I don't think so. I'm now trying to think of the name of the guy who worked for BAR for a year. He's back in the Netherlands doing helmets, got it! Geert Koop

Interestingly, Jody´s older brother, Ian, was a more than usefull bike racer. He campaigned a Matisse framed Triumph I think it was, in the SA championships and was always near the pointy end. Switched to cars and won a few SA championships, as well as did a few GP´s. I´m sure there is a pic of Ian on the other bike thread, but I wouldn´t know how to source it though.

Yes, that's Auinger all right and number 47 is Graham Young on the Spondon Rotax. This photo must have been taken in wet qualifying on the Saturday as the Friday and Sunday were warm and dry. I remember this clearly because I was in the TT Formula 1 race and the hot track destroyed my rear tyre before half the race was run.

Thanks, nice to find such an active forum. If you're looking in the programme I was riding number 38 on a Binnion Suzuki. How we came to be in the race is a story in itself, but no time to tell it now. Off to Anglesey for a track day tomorrow. See you!

Karel Zegers, could be written books about him, famous Dutch engineer/tuner/rider from the seventies, worked also for Wil Hartog some time, had enough from cheese and tulips about 22 years ago and moved to Australia.

Here is a little story about him. (scroll down)

Good evenings friends, I don't usually like to do this sort of things but I stumbled on this picture on the yamahaclassicracers.nl site that Ton ( Hemeyla) has linked a few posts back, and it just brought me such a big breath of nostalgia that I thought I should share it ....I realise it's a little bit before the time bracket that we usually have pictures from, but still, who do you identify ?

( and don't cheat and go to the site - there is at least one mistake in the captions there ;) )
