Tell you a little tale about an Edam ;) Many years ago I had to do some urgent helmets for my friends at Arai in Hoevelaken. So quickly were they needed, I flew over with them Sunday morning, met up at Schipol, handed them over & was given a whole cheese as a little gift. Back to Birmingham on the same plane an hour or so later. Immediately picked up by customs in the UK, who took my cheese away, poked & prodded it. Then handed it back with a few more holes than it was made with...it took some convincing I was a helmet courier & nothing worse...Originally posted by HEMEYLA

Interestingly, Jody´s older brother, Ian, was a more than usefull bike racer. He campaigned a Matisse framed Triumph I think it was, in the SA championships and was always near the pointy end. Switched to cars and won a few SA championships, as well as did a few GP´s. I´m sure there is a pic of Ian on the other bike thread, but I wouldn´t know how to source it though.Originally posted by mfd
and yes Stu, you're right Scheckter World Cup. If you remember he wobbled around on someones GP bike. He was F1 WC the year previous...but a Bike racer, naaah don't think so I also remember at that meeting every rider occupying a garage was given a huge basket of fresh fruit. Hospitality

Yes, that's Auinger all right and number 47 is Graham Young on the Spondon Rotax. This photo must have been taken in wet qualifying on the Saturday as the Friday and Sunday were warm and dry. I remember this clearly because I was in the TT Formula 1 race and the hot track destroyed my rear tyre before half the race was run.Originally posted by picblanc

Thanks, nice to find such an active forum. If you're looking in the programme I was riding number 38 on a Binnion Suzuki. How we came to be in the race is a story in itself, but no time to tell it now. Off to Anglesey for a track day tomorrow. See you!Originally posted by picblanc
Love your name very amusing!! and yes your right it was taken on the Saturday morning practice.
Welcome to the forum too!
Right off to check programme on the F1 race entry list!;)
