A few more from today. Pleased to report that I caught up with Elansprint - not difficult, as he was struggling to overcome his back trouble. The forecast bad weather finally put in an appearance and called a halt to proceedings for a while, so torrential was the downpour, and resulted in the fourth timed run being abandoned. Topping the times, which were all set on Saturday, was Justin Law with the Lister Jaguar after an impressive drive. Best Sunday time came from Alan Watkins in the ex-Malcolm Wilson Escort.
No doubt there will be moans about the weather and the fact that people got muddy, but if you stage an event at the height of the English 'summer', what does one expect? Here's hoping for two sunny days next year.
Would you buy this demonstrator ex-works? The Bentley test drivers didn't hold back.
I was most impressed by the superb electric cars built and demonstrated by the girls from Sandbach High School, both of which completed the course at a cracking pace. Top marks, girls.
Part of the patina referred to in Giraffe's earlier post
The superb, and rarely seen, Aston DB3S of regularity winner, Brian Classic
The Army produced some serious kit which distracted Rainford while Jon Minshaw was crashing behind him. Can't find this one on the time sheets.
Did I mention that it rained?
...but nobody told 'Whizzo'
In response to Brynmor's post, a number of cars weren't actually entered in the competition, but were there to add some more variety. Justin Law explained that the Jaguar would have been totally unsuitable with the hump-back bridge, but he brought it so that people could see it, while, I think, the same applied to the Finburgh Porsche, although it was entered. The Bronson McLaren had a problem so didn't run. Could be that the same applied to some others.
