Hello everybody,

Poking my head here after a long absence (blame it on my workload). I recently learned that the Austrian town of Großraming held motorcycle races between the 1950s and 1970s and I'm looking for information on it.

1.) It appears that such a venue was operational between 1952 and 1978. Is that correct?

2.) Were car races ever organized at that circuit?

3.) Was the circuit lay-out changed? One of our sources state that it had one configuration between 1952 and 1971, and another between 1972 and 1978.

4.) Does anybody have a map of the track? This would be helpful to our friends Darren and Guido and their websites.

Cheers,

Sal / Muzza

Yes, it will appear on the new version of my website www.wegcircuits.nl when it's ready.

Well...Dutch, Belgian and some miscellaneous stuff.

The Belgium database is more work than expected, but it's coming together quite nicely. It will not be as comprehensive as the Dutch database, but there's a lot of stuff that will be new to many.

1) The races in Großraming were run from 1951 till 1978.

2) There were only solos and sidecars but no racing cars on the circuit.

3) The layout of the circuit was never changed from the first to the last event.

Are you sure the races started in 1951, Helmut? All references I have found state 1952-1978.

It might be worth mentioning that there has been an annual Großraming revival since 2006. They run the old course, but start-finish has been moved and at least one temporary chicane has been inserted. And although cars never raced at Großraming, the revival also includes demo-runs with cars:
