Our guest interview will be with Hugh Chamberlain who amongst a long and varied career as both a driver, running an engine machining and building business, preparing running and managing a vast number of privateer teams mainly in endurance racing as well as the factory MG team in the early 2000s, Hugh completed a run of 26 appearances as an entrant at Le Mans. This season he has been running current Aston Martin Vantages.
Hugh was always a favourite interview in the LM pitlane for both TV and Radio Le Mans.
So start working on your questions for Hugh now !
We will have a picture based quiz.
TNF member and film maker from the early 70s Roy PG has agreed to lend us some great films he shot 1970-75 at Crystal Palace. Brands, Silverstone, Mallory etc Some of the cars and drivers we all know but no one else seemed to film !...........and a whole lot more!

Hopefully it will be something to look forward to after Christmas and the new year. ( we used to have the real Racing Car Show in early January and then the GP season used to start around the 3rd weekend in January usually I think with the South African Grand Prix )

He's the ex-Mclaren employee who received 800 pages of Ferrari technical documentation from ex-Ferrari employee Nigel Stepney a couple of years ago. The alert was sounded by the local Prontaprint when his wife took it in to be copied. The resultant scandal, inevitably nicknamed "spygate" was big news a couple of years ago, you'll no doubt recall having had your memory jogged.

We used to have a postcard from the early days of McLaren - maybe to celebrate their new premises in Colnbrook - which bore the motto:

Years ago, we used to have the much missed Racing Car Show in central London and the start of the new GP season in January, so I hope this is something you have to look forward to just after the turn of the year now .

Please do brave the elements in your classic, sportscar, rally car as well, plenty of off street parking.

If the cold weather predictions are anything to go by you might need to dig out the snow chains ready !! You may need to regard getting there as part of the event rather like the Monte Carlo Rally used to do ! Get the thermals on and there will be a hot steaming mug of coffee waiting for you when you arrive.

Afterall its only driving on frozen water..................How hard can it be ??

They have quite good grip on slippery surfaces such as those used in the shops.

That is such a glorious car, and it suits the gathering so well Stephen. you might have seen the praise James May gave to one on their race from London to Edinburgh XKvs Black Shadow vs The new Steam Loco Tornado. The XK of course won with effortless ease and never missed a beat !

Fortunately the beautifully restored white Jaguar XK 120 drophead had the only sensible and sympathetic driver of all those on Top Gear in James May , the others are horribly destructive as you say Allan.

Thanks for posting that lovely pic of the old girl Richard,it's nice to be reminded of what the sunshine looks like on this grotty old day in " East Angula "
-I'd better go and check the garage and make sure the old girl's OK,not seen her much recently (and I don't mean SWMBO)!
As far as that lovely feature on Top Gear is concerned,what they didn't actually mention was the,at least three fuel fillups 'twixt London and Edinburgh going by my own hopeless consumption experience-mind you a steady cruise at 55 or so would make a big difference,but so boring,and you don't get that lovely noise either.And Gary,I'm not such a wimp really,as a terrific drive across Exmoor in the old MG ( TD ) in the snow would prove! if I still had a drop-head I assure you that top would only be erected very rarely (monsoon conditions only when speed had to be restricted to<50 mph)-get back to your tea-making!

This is most impressive all you chaps planning to come south from such distances, great effort much appreciated especially as I look out this Sunday evening on about 4 inches of snow !

Hopefully we will get the low temperatures out of the way this side of Christmas and we will have clear roads in 5 weeks time.

Otherwise you will need to get the rally cars out !

Nothing wrong with a sensibly driven front wheel drive estate car! Today the roads are crowded with numpties who haven't the first clue how to drive on snowy roads! Not helped by the Local Council failing to get the gritters out due to it being a Sunday when it snowed!
