Sheesh!...And have you ever tried restapling magazines?
I could not agree more, Richard.
If this was a composition test at school I would write beneath it: Missed the point.
You got to cool down. As most of you I was waiting for such a possibility for a long time - now I'm dissapointed by the quality. I don't speak about coffee rings, dog-ears, rust stain and so on. They are part of the game. Simply judging by the look one seems to buy a castle then you open the door and stumble into a dimly lit shack. The treasuries in it hardly to recognise. It's not explainable by limited space on the DVD - there is enough room for other 15 years in this resolution.
No doubt about the willingness of the publishers. It's in their own interest too, to save their basement treasure (and there is no need of a vision to act so). One way is to digitise them. And if you have to move (as little as possibly) these old, rare and precious magazines, you have to handle it with care (not to say awe) and in proper style, haven't you?
And have you ever tried restapling magazines? Yes, I have, Richard, and I know the smell too. Additional I have also some experience in scanning. It's part of my job. And I can tell by looking a poor quality. And these sources don't deserve such a performance.
