It's just that Brawn GP have a much better pitwall crew.

This season is BrawnGP's. They're just too far ahead and others are not able to catch up (in time).
That`s too early to say. If RBR get their act together and don`t screw up strategywise then at least Vettel is a real threat.

Good job From Webber to make it to the podium he outfoxed his teammate.
Poor barichello he was owned.

If this years championship had been decided by wins, Button with his 5 would be virtually WC now. Hamilton got 5 last year, Massa 6.
Bet BE still thinks it's a good idea though.

Button, Webber and Alonso looked especially good (edit: and Heidfeld and Rosberg? I didn't see enough of them). Did Piquet slow to let Alonso by?

Jenson did what he had to do and won again, even though it took a little help from the pits.;)
Rubens perfect start, not so perfect strategy.
Massa great start, horrible strategy! Ferrari looks in shambles

Agree - if Newey gets a DDD solution onto the RB5 that brings 0.3 to 0.5 secs advantage to laptime then it could be a great contest for the WDC/WCC. There is still time...

I think Neweys implementation of the DD will be something spectacular to watch. Will Mercedes supply Brawn with the KERS unit if so Brawn will be untouchable.

Ross Brawn on BBC just now:
1. 3-stop was always our optimal strategy;
2. Jenson was put onto a two-stop to optimize chances of a 1-2. We didn't expect him to be able to challenge Rubens;
3. Rubens was .5 sec a lap slower than he should have been in second stint;
4. We expected Rubens to be much faster than he was, and we don't yet know what the problem was.
Rubens really does struggle mid-race in that Brawn.

considering they are just one-two tenths short of brawn I think that monaco red bull is the favorite to win the race unless jenson wasn't really pushing the pace, because the radio transmission of jenson saying for rubens to go faster sounded like button could have gone faster.

Ferrari....at least they didn't run out of fuel on track. Stefano will spin this as some great achievement.

Massa I'm sorry for you baby
Button boring but nice job
Webber
Boring race as always here.

I think today he took way to long to get past Massa, kers or no kers.

erm, they did, Massa never made it back home.
Unless you are just referring to track as when the race is on.

Ferrari car performance Ferrari pit & pitwall, what a joke!

From other thread:
- 1. 3-stop was always our optimal strategy;
- 3. Rubens was .5 sec a lap slower than he should have been in second stint;
Which is another way of saying that two stops was the ideal strategy.

We got a little teaser of Alonso vs Hamilton II. Now I want more

Understatement.Rubens looks a bit peeved...
Yes, I mean at least he managed to crawl across the finishing line. Imagine their embaressment if he parked it a couple corners before flag on last lap.Unless you are just referring to track as when the race is on.

It's getting really frustrating, they have changed all of these rules and still the races are as processional as ever. Two races in a row Vettel could have won but was nowhere near it because of being stuck behind cars infront. If you lead into turn 1, your pretty much assured of the victory because there will be a KERS car holding everyone up behind you. KERS is actually detracting from the battle of the front.
Rubens got the shaft bigtime.
Alonso did a great job to get 5th.
Button did well but he has had the last two races handed to him on a platter. He did a great overtake last race, and this race... a gift.

Heck at first we thought Vettel had Webbo covered and Woobens had Button covered. Startling reversal of fortunes, that.

Rubens should have won that one, but im sure he could have changed to a two-stopper if he wanted to. I think Red Bull has more pure speed than the Brawns and still the races just go accordingly to Brawn, must be that lil things champions have ;) I mean, Massa could be in front of at least one of them at the start, but he only stopped Vettel.
It's good to see Ferrari behaves as expected from them, screwing up every single race, its comforting. Still gratz to Massa and to the guys developing the car, cause that, my friends, is the third best car in the grid and can possibly become better than the Brawns soon.

No one overtake another car in the race other then first lap or SC or am I wrong? Kimi couldn't get past Heidfeld. Glock couldn't get past Hamilton. What did you expect Vettel to do? I don't believe any driver would have overtaken Massa.Vettel is good, people talk about him being the best there is, but I can't recall many great overtakes by him (except in the wet when he had a car advantage)
I think today he took way to long to get past Massa, kers or no kers.

It really set up the podium, if Alonso got past him he could have been screwed.
#36
Posted 10 May 2009 - 14:19
Kinda interesting race despite lack of overtakes. The Catalunya circuit still annoys me though. Had the race was on a different track we would have a lot more action - there was a lot of situation when faster cars were behind slower ones. And what a calendar we've got? Bahrain - Barcelona - Monaco - the borefest trio

rubens strat didnt work but got 2nd
webber excellent 2nd stint.
vettel joke of a start, screwed up his stops and couldent pass an ailing massa.
ferrari in generall

Button was put onto a 2 stopper to ensure he beat massa and vettel both who were heavier and could have overtaken him in the first stops.Which is another way of saying that two stops was the ideal strategy.

And strategists.The thing is, Brawn's pace and RedBull's pace are fairly similar.
It's just that Brawn GP have a much better pitwall crew.
RBR strategists managed to keep Vettel behind Massa for the whole afternoon. And they managed to stop at precisely the same moments as Massa - TWICE.

Will the car weigh enough, he won't have had much chance to pick up rubber?
Will he have enough fuel in the car to fill the FIAs test bottles?

The guy is a Hamilton fan, was wearing a McLaren shirt and had a replica of Hamilton's steering wheel, he blacked up as a homage to Hamilton not to be racist, if he was a racist Alonso fan why would he be dressed up in McLaren gear and have Hamilton's steering wheel replica ?
It is no different to when Spurs fans were wearing Edgar Davids dreadlocks and glasses or when American's used to put on long wigs and beard as homage to Alexei Lalas and so on
Wasn't racist

Will Massa keep his place -
Will the car weigh enough, he won't have had much chance to pick up rubber?
Will he have enough fuel in the car to fill the FIAs test bottles?
Did he actually run out of fuel, or just pull over? On-board didnt sound like he ran out.

I don't understand the fuss BBC are making about the blacked up fan
The guy is a Hamilton fan, was wearing a McLaren shirt and had a replica of Hamilton's steering wheel, he blacked up as a homage to Hamilton not to be racist, if he was a racist Alonso fan why would he be dressed up in McLaren gear and have Hamilton's steering wheel replica ?

Did he actually run out of fuel, or just pull over? On-board didnt sound like he ran out.
He manually turned the engine off so no, he didn't actually run out. Perhaps he was told to turn it off to save some fuel.
